Tacenda Posted November 2, 2013 Posted November 2, 2013 Not to derail but I have the opportunity to go on a ghost hunt, not haunt, lol, tonight at an old mansion nearby. I thought of doing this with my husband for our anniversary. But he isn't game. Does this even sound fun to anyone? It's a bed and breakfast and apparently it is with a paranormal team with all the equipment. My very religious mom told me once that when she was a teen they played a game where they raised a table with only their hands, not underneath but on top. She wouldn't lie, so how do you think this happened? There must be something out there. Is the veil that thin? Could spirits have done this?

Tacenda Posted November 2, 2013 Posted November 2, 2013 Would that have been a Quija Board, we have been admonished to not play with those. No, a kitchen table. No Quija Board. This was in the late 40's. Was that around back then?
Stone holm Posted November 2, 2013 Author Posted November 2, 2013 No, a kitchen table. No Quija Board. This was in the late 40's. Was that around back then?I don't know for sure, but I remember them from my early childhood, so I would tend to think so. We are admonished not to play with them because it invites an encounter with the wrong kind of spirits. Same as one of the reasons we were discouraged from using face cards because they were supposedly derived from Tarot Cards.
thesometimesaint Posted November 3, 2013 Posted November 3, 2013 No, a kitchen table. No Quija Board. This was in the late 40's. Was that around back then? The original Ouija boards date back to about 1100 CE China, and there was no association with the occult. In their modern incantation they date to 1890 USA, and to the occult during WW1.
Calm Posted November 3, 2013 Posted November 3, 2013 My very religious mom told me once that when she was a teen they played a game where they raised a table with only their hands, not underneath but on top. She wouldn't lie, so how do you think this happened? There must be something out there. She might not lie, but can you say the same of her friends? It is a very easy trick to do, just put some sticks up some long sleeves and slide them under the table. Then when you lift your arms, the table lifts as well.
