Is This A Man Thing?

It sounds like its a your hubby thing. When I am sick, I do what is necessary to get well. I am a husband and father. Maybe his pride is getting in the way.

In a work environment it is not a good thing to go to work sick. It can spread and wipe everyone out. It also takes longer to heal if you can't rest.

I hope he will get well.

It may also be simply a gut response that if one ignores the negative it will go away while if one deals with it, it feels like it grows in significance.

It's like a pimple on one's face. If one doesn't look in the mirror, one can pretend it isn't there or at least so subtle that no one is going to pay it attention but if one does look in the mirror, suddenly it seems like it is as noticeable as a lighthouse and that is all you can look at or think about (at least until distracted by something else).

My sister-in-law says there's an unwritten rule that if a woman gets really sick, her husband must get sicker so she still has to take care of him.

So, he has bronchitis. The doctor says he is very congested in there and it wasn't going to get better on its own. This morning he was trying to claim he was all better and didn't need to go. Yeah. Nice try!

Yep, this has been my experience!

It is a guy thing...I am in the hospital this very moment. I got so sick I just got out of two day in ICU, now I am in Gereral population. I will get to go home today...I hope. :)

When I had respiratory issues, I went to the doctor ... about 4 times, as the viral infection turned into secondary pneumonia ...

... but then, I didn't have to worry too much about the cost. Free at point of use has some benefits ;)

Guys: Is this a man thing? If so, what's a good solution for handling this sort of situation? I'm not a fan of nagging.

Sometimes it is a guy thing. I know for me the main reason I don't go to the doctor is that I don't want to spend the money. I know I know I have an FSA and all that. The other thing is that 1/2 the time I have been to the doctor what they prescribe doesn't do anything so I feel like I wasted my time. So ask him if he feels that it is a money issue. I bet it is. Or at least he thinks it is.

Too expensive to go to the doctor. Well, I guess that is one advantage of Gov't health care over a private system, eh Cal ! Oops, my bad !!!!

I promise you that you will remember these words that you said in about 2 years and think "Boy was I wrong" when this monstrosity finially gets implimented. Edited by Mola Ram Suda Ram

Getting a blessing doesn't cost a thing.

Oh, it was definitely a money issue in part, but he hates going to the doctor too. I understand that, but then I think you need to try a blessing and home remedies rather than just try to ignore it, like that's going to make it go away. I told him it would be a lot more expensive and miserable if he had to go to the ER.

I am not LDS, so I am not familiar with the healing power of a blessing. Can you explain what this is and how it could affect the physical well being of an individual? Thanks in advance!

When people go the the doctor, they may get sent to the hospital. And sometimes they never come home again.
