Mormons In The Middle - Conference

If you search "Kevin Kloosterman, Mormon Stories", you'll see his involvement. I know he was a part of at least one podcast, spoke at conferences and I believe helped organize others.

Right. He spoke at an MS conference about gay mormons - circling the wagons. Maybe that's what he's speaking on here too. Is that what you're asking? If so, I'm pretty sure that the conference is not entirely dedicated to mormons and gays. So that would be the difference between this conference and the previous one(s) with Kloosterman. Or are you asking something else?

Partly, I guess. I have no problem with his participation as I actually think highly of him. I just know that he got pretty close to John Dehlin and was involved in Mormon Stories conferences. I mainly was curious to see if these were going to be a replacement for them or a continuation of them since Dehlin is no longer doing conferences (and the name does give that impression with using that darn word "middle" :) ).

Dehlin would say that's what he has been doing -- in some instances.

That's what you would say your doing? right

Stop picking at it. Karl Anderson is speaking ... do you know who that is (the book "Joseph Smith's Kirtland", brother to Richard Anderson author of books on the BOM witness and a retired BYU Prof.)? I am speaking as well. while you may not agree with me much of the time, I think you would agree my public behavior on Mormonstories, FAIR, and my podcast, as well as my participation on Staylds, and Neworder mormon has been faithful. Any disagreement with that and you would need to provide a reference .

It will be positive, I am 99% sure of that.

Ok. I personally have no idea. The conference is being done by Sunstone. I'm not plugged into enough crowds to know if Dehlin and Sunstone have any connection. I do know that DBMormon once did an interview with Dehlin so maybe there is a tie. But with all the hoopla of recent I would be fairly surprised if Dehlin were flying out to a conference in Ohio right now

These are operated by a completely different group of individuals whose direction, motives, and purpose is completely different. Please don't lump them. For the record I also like Kevin Kloosterman and greatly appreciate his effort to help those who struggle.

Actually the conference was set first by a "Mormon in the Middle". It was then piggybacked by Sunstone. It is unrelated to Mormonstories and serves a completely different purpose though it may likely appeal to many of the same crowd.

For the record, I am not one of it's organizers though I did help them reach out to Bro. Anderson

While I don't know exactly what will occur or go down, I absolutely expect this to be an uplifting, spiritual conference that any Bishop would be proud to recommend to his ward.

Let me add my testimony to that. I know Karl Anderson. A very good scholar. As good as we have in this area. He wouldn't admit it, but almost all of the historical sites the church owns or has restored around Kirtland are a direct result of his work and direction. We wouldn't have anything apart from the NKW store and the temple if not for him.

Karl is also as devout as they come. He's the head of CES for several stakes in the area. Trains all my seminary teachers. Last year he did a fireside in Kirtland for all High Priests (and their wifes) in the surrounding stakes. Kirtland is where the office of HP was first conferred. Very spiritual and knowledgable man. And a great speaker to boot. I would drive several states to hear him.

But some of it still tastes good.

From what I hear, Kloosterman is cooking pasta fra diavalla, Anderson is serving shepard's pie, and DBMormon is bringing the diet coke.

I'm acquainted with Karl Ricks Anderson.

He's as good as these gentlemen say and better.

But, of course, Karl Anderson would clearly offer healthy food!

Why does Karl get your stamp of approval, but I seem to get a passive aggressive nod of disdain?
