Damien the Leper Posted December 29, 2012 Posted December 29, 2012 I remember, about a decade ago, of 2 sites that dealt with Mormon apologetics. I believe they were "Why prophets?" and "My Egyptology". Is anyone else familiar with the sites, now defunct, and their authors?
DBMormon Posted December 29, 2012 Posted December 29, 2012 I would also add the Book of Mormon Answerman on the New Jerusalem web site..... All have disappeared. Any help on who this was and why they have vanished?
livy111us Posted December 29, 2012 Posted December 29, 2012 I believe whyprophets is no longer a member but you can still access the site through wayback
Damien the Leper Posted December 29, 2012 Author Posted December 29, 2012 I couldn't find either site I mentioned above. Bummer!!
Alan Posted December 29, 2012 Posted December 29, 2012 I was "WhyProphets" sunday school teacher when he was a young teen.It is still possible to access the information on his old website.

Darren10 Posted December 30, 2012 Posted December 30, 2012 Jefflindsay.com is stil there.An excellent site too.
Darren10 Posted December 30, 2012 Posted December 30, 2012 Jeff Linday also runs mormanity. That site and the one under his own name frequently overlap though each have their own niche in the apologetic game.
Calm Posted December 30, 2012 Posted December 30, 2012 (edited) It would appear the My Egyptology page was the effort of Paul Osborne, who is no longer a believer, I believe. He is pointing someone to it here: http://pacumenispages.yuku.com/topic/10345/t/The-Book-of-Joseph-Test-Case-for-Book-of-Abraham-Apologetic.html#.UOCED2t5mK0"see more at:www.myegyptology.net/file/id538.htmI can't prove my theories are true but at least I can live with them. Alan Posted January 4, 2013 Posted January 4, 2013 I couldn't find a site.Just google WhyProphets and it will come up on an ex-mormon hosting site (I don't know why). A lot of the original information is still there.
Nevo Posted January 5, 2013 Posted January 5, 2013 I remember, about a decade ago, of 2 sites that dealt with Mormon apologetics. I believe they were "Why prophets?" and "My Egyptology". Is anyone else familiar with the sites, now defunct, and their authors? It seems like you're feigning some ignorance here, Valentinus. Surely you already know that Chris Tolworthy and Paul Osborn have both left the Church. Why else would you mention these two sites together?Chris Tolworthy also wrote the book, The Bible Says 1830, which you can still get here.
Damien the Leper Posted January 5, 2013 Author Posted January 5, 2013 If you're trying to accuse me of something then I wish you would go ahead and do it. I came across the whyprophets site while living in Flagstaff in 2003. I had never visited the MyEgyptology page. Furthermore, I didn't know who their authors were. I wasnt as familiar with the discipline of apologetics at the time. A former coworker, who was a an evangelical, told me about MyEgpytology. With that said...what am I feigning ignorance of? This better be a damn good accusation.
Nevo Posted January 5, 2013 Posted January 5, 2013 With that said...what am I feigning ignorance of? This better be a damn good accusation.I guess it's just a coincidence that you picked two apologetics sites from a decade ago whose authors are well known (at least in ex-Mormon circles) to have left the Church. I don't know why either of those sites would be worth mentioning now apart from that fact, but if it's the case that you just happened to be curious about these two sites for no particular reason then I apologize for suggesting there was any misrepresentation on your part.
Damien the Leper Posted January 5, 2013 Author Posted January 5, 2013 Apology accepted. I dont frequent ex-Mormon sites and/or circles.
