Sky Posted November 30, 2012 Posted November 30, 2012 There is a business side and a spiritual side to the Church. In order for the Church to prosper and fulfill its destiny, there needs to be both. The Lord said somewhere in the D&C that all things are spiritual unto him. 1
pmccombs1 Posted November 30, 2012 Posted November 30, 2012 There is a business side and a spiritual side to the Church. In order for the Church to prosper and fulfill its destiny, there needs to be both. The Lord said somewhere in the D&C that all things are spiritual unto him.And with that, we've unlocked the secret of how to serve both God and Mammon!
volgadon Posted November 30, 2012 Posted November 30, 2012 And with that, we've unlocked the secret of how to serve both God and Mammon! So did Jesus. 1
Duncan Posted November 30, 2012 Posted November 30, 2012 And with that, we've unlocked the secret of how to serve both God and Mammon!Mosiah 2:17-"that ye may learn that when ye are in the service of your fellow beings ye are only in the service of your God". Is how you serve both
The Nehor Posted November 30, 2012 Posted November 30, 2012 So did Jesus. Are you suggesting that we should start fishing to pay the bills like he had Peter do?
The Nehor Posted November 30, 2012 Posted November 30, 2012 I want a pic of that.Kids and missionaries love it. Older folks either chuckle or roll their eyes.
Lamanite Posted November 30, 2012 Author Posted November 30, 2012 Silly question: Aren't you the person who regularly suggests on this forum that we should all stop saying we 'know' things in our testimonies, and yet you endorse it when Pres Grant said, 'I know beyond a shadow of doubt of the divinity of this work ... I know as well as I know that I live that God lives ... To know that this is true, this gospel of Jesus Christ -- why, it's worth everything else in the wide, wide world'?That's me. I can't do much about how others share their testimony except to be authentic and honest when I share my own.As for the two Prophets I like their gumption and gusto. They've got pizazz!Big UP!Lamanite

Is how you serve bothNo, that's how you serve God by serving man. We don't serve man by serving mammon, either. Jesus was pretty clear when He said you can't serve both, if you believe Him
volgadon Posted November 30, 2012 Posted November 30, 2012 Are you suggesting that we should start fishing to pay the bills like he had Peter do?No, I hate fish. 1

The Nehor Posted November 30, 2012 Posted November 30, 2012 Filthy lucre.I work in marketing so I may have led a sheltered life. Is there another kind of lucre out there somewhere?
volgadon Posted November 30, 2012 Posted November 30, 2012 I work in marketing so I may have led a sheltered life. Is there another kind of lucre out there somewhere? There is filthy lucre, and then there are fish guts.

thesometimesaint Posted November 30, 2012 Posted November 30, 2012 I was being a little bit factious.

Duncan Posted November 30, 2012 Posted November 30, 2012 I wasn't into Seinfeld oh, brother! you need to repent majorly! 1
ERayR Posted November 30, 2012 Posted November 30, 2012 God is not a free market capitalist. If he was maximizing his investments and time and effort spent versus payoff he would have laid waste to the earth a long time ago as a bad investment and written the creation off as a bad sunk cost.I think you may not understand the purpose of the earth. It was designed to test and separate. It does that very well so it cannot be classified as a bad investment. You may have classified it as a bad investment and written it off but that is only by your assessment. I think that God looks at it much differently than you. In Genesis God pronounced it good. .
ERayR Posted November 30, 2012 Posted November 30, 2012 (edited) He's a republican, too, right?Nope that would be Conservative. Edited November 30, 2012 by ERayR
thesometimesaint Posted November 30, 2012 Posted November 30, 2012 (edited) oh, brother! you need to repent majorly!More than likely, but not for missing Seinfeld. I tried watching it a few times. Just didn't "get" it. I normally like parody but it seemed just to be a parody of itself. Edited November 30, 2012 by thesometimesaint
Mola Ram Suda Ram Posted November 30, 2012 Posted November 30, 2012 God is not a free market capitalist. If he was maximizing his investments and time and effort spent versus payoff he would have laid waste to the earth a long time ago as a bad investment and written the creation off as a bad sunk cost.He clearly is a flaming liberal Democrat. I mean, he is all for tax funded abortions and running up huge deficits. Oh wait.On a serious note I don't think God is a capitalist. I think he is all about the free markets, though. as that is the point of this life. To chose right from wrong. Free markets are a good thing. They allow people to chose right or wrong.
