Is Their A Difference Between The Purpose Life And Purpose Of Your Life?

I get the plan of salvation as they purpose of life and how we can all get back to God again through covenants and ordinances but I was wondering if their is a purpose to your life as opposed to purpose of life? I can't say for sure but I imagine the purpose of Thomas Edison's life was all his inventions, the purpose of the Wright bros. was the advent of the airplane. Does everyone have a purpose to their life and how do you figure out what it is? Some people don't live long, some don't seem to have had anything big to do here

Elder Scott has spoken on this a few times. There is the general plan of salvation that applies generally to everyone. Then there is the plan you must follow. It goes along with Joseph Smith teaching that each person must be brought into conformity with God in their own unique way. We also have different individual responsibilities that go along with that.

We used to call it a vocation. The modern world hasn't been so kind to it.

there is always a purpose to your life. everything happens for a reason we might not understand it at the time but it will definetly make sense in the next life. On that train of thought i believe we actually decide what we need to learn and the best way for that to happen before we are born into this world.

Yes, and you find it by exercising your agency and following your conscience. While some people may accomplish great things, they actually may not have fulfilled either their macro or micro purpose in doing them--but it's nice to give everyone the beneft of the doubt and recognize those things that beneft others. By the same token, those who seem to not have accomplished much in this life may well have actually done all that was required of them with regards to both macro and micro purposes, so it's nice to be charitable toward them (us!).

While I appreciate the sentiment behind this I do not entirely agree. While I do not believe our lives are random I do not believe that everything that happens to us makes sense. I have a difficult time believing all abused children "needed to learn" from that experience. All suffering can turn to good but not all suffering is necessary. If this idea is carried through to its conclusion everything we do for good or ill is necessary. This makes sin a help to God rather then a rebellion. It also removes from humanity thr dognity that agency gave us....the ability to thwart God's plan at least for ourselves and possibly even for others.

I understand where you are coming from especialy if you believe we only come to this earth once. if that was the case none of the evil things that happen would ever make sense and no one could possibly believe that there is a God watching over us. But I don't believe we only come to this earth once there is no way someone could come to this earth once and learn everything that we should learn here. this particular belief is called reincarnation it is not taught in any christian church that I know of although Christ himself discussed it with his apostles when he asked them what spirit the people thought he had the apostles responded by saying thought he had the spirit of Moses or one of the prophets. Christ himself stated that John the baptist had the spirit of Elijah, of course most people pass off that statement that John only had the same calling as Elijah but that really doesn't make any sense. Joseph Smith even taught reincarnation privately to one of his wives stating as well that it was frustrating what the brethren of the church would accept. I don't actually expect anyone to believe based off my quick explanation but if you think through it it certainly explains why bad things happen

I do not see how reincarnation explains evil. I also doubt there is reincarnation? The evidence is spotty and Joseph denounced the doctrine at least once.
