bluebell Posted August 2, 2012 Posted August 2, 2012 I just read on facebook (the bastian of truth) that Roseanne Barr said that "anyone who eats at ****-fil-a deserves to get the cancer" Did she really say that?
ERayR Posted August 2, 2012 Posted August 2, 2012 I just read on facebook (the bastian of truth) that Roseanne Barr said that "anyone who eats at ****-fil-a deserves to get the cancer" Did she really say that?Possibly, Anything that comes out of her mouth is filth or gibberish. 1
The Nehor Posted August 2, 2012 Posted August 2, 2012 I just read on facebook (the bastian of truth) that Roseanne Barr said that "anyone who eats at ****-fil-a deserves to get the cancer" Did she really say that?"THE" cancer? Which one is that? I'm scared.
selek1 Posted August 2, 2012 Posted August 2, 2012 Because they are selling lots of food. Do you think that these guys making a lot of money over this are the victims of their religious freedom being curtailed?Yes. Whether or not the public has responded with support and solidarity does not obviate the fact that their religious views HAVE been threatened by agents of the State.Next question. 3
Scott Lloyd Posted August 2, 2012 Posted August 2, 2012 (edited) FYI:I just got this in-house email at the newspaper where I work: Since it’s probably going to be in a lot of stories this week, the style is Chick-fil-A Edited August 2, 2012 by Scott Lloyd
Scott Lloyd Posted August 2, 2012 Posted August 2, 2012 Yes. Whether or not the public has responded with support and solidarity does not obviate the fact that their religious views HAVE been threatened by agents of the State.Indeed. If oppressors fail in their objective, it doesn't make the objective any the less reprehensible.
selek1 Posted August 2, 2012 Posted August 2, 2012 (edited) CFAs opposes ssm and CFA affiliates and supports groups which oppose ssm; this was known sometime last year. There was even a boycott last year, where was the support last year? This is not an attack on religion or religious freedom, it is free market at its best, people are free to choose where they will spend their money.False.Last year- when the boycott was a purely private expression- it was "free market at its best".This year it's attempted coercion and intimidation by agents of the State and an un-Constitutional religious test.I do find it ironic, though that the same people who are lecturing us that it was wrong to oppose the Ground Zero Mosque on religious grounds are exactly the same people who are telling us that it is right to oppose Chick-Fil-A on religious grounds.Apparently, religious discrimination is legitimate- if you just happen to disagree with the religious beliefs in question. bluebell Posted August 2, 2012 Posted August 2, 2012 "THE" cancer? Which one is that? I'm scared.I guess which ever one Roseann thinks is the worst?
The Nehor Posted August 2, 2012 Posted August 2, 2012 I guess which ever one Roseann thinks is the worst?Probably breast cancer. Whew. I'm mostly safe. 1
selek1 Posted August 2, 2012 Posted August 2, 2012 (edited) Was the person who made the threat identified? Or are you just looking for easy scapegoats? Now, now, not TH- why would we adopt your sides tactics?Same-sex marriage has lost everywhere it's been left to the people (as opposed to their political masters) to decide.Rather than face that fact, radical homosexuals look for the easy-out of blaming the Catholics, the Mormons, and the Cathys.Just as people who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones, radical leftists are in no position to lecture about simplistic arguments and solutions. To answer your question, however- as of the last update I saw, no- the individual is not yet in custody.Apparently, however, that particular bright bulb made the phone call from a traceable number and police have a number of leads they are pursuing.I expect we'll know more tomorrow.Of course, there are only three possibilities about the perpetrator:1) he is an ideological fellow traveller of the homosexual movement making a political statement.2) he is an opponent of the homosexual movement making a political statement3) he is a random loon or malcontent and fan of the "Jackass" series of movies and shows.Now- honestly- which of these three is the most likely? Edited August 2, 2012 by selek1
selek1 Posted August 2, 2012 Posted August 2, 2012 Probably breast cancer. Whew. I'm mostly safe.Hah.Wrong,
The Nehor Posted August 2, 2012 Posted August 2, 2012 Hah.Wrong,That is why I said mostly. Guys can get it but it is pretty rare.
Zakuska Posted August 2, 2012 Posted August 2, 2012 (edited) Two can play at this game:http://www.latimes.c...0,1227873.storyFrom the maker of “The Muppets” to the mayor of Boston, the list of folks severing ties with Chick-fil-A due to the fast-food company’s opposition to gay marriage is growing.Jim Henson Co., which has produced characters for “The Muppets,” “Labyrinth” and “Fraggle Rock,” had recently been working with the Atlanta restaurant chain to create products for its kids’ meals.AlsoThe offerings included five build-your-own puppets from Jim Henson’s Creature Shop, using pieces that are punched out from the plastic meal container, according to a cached version of the Chick-fil-A website. But after last week, when President Dan Cathy said the fast-food giant was “guilty as charged” of supporting “the biblical definition of the family unit,” Henson Co. nixed the partnership. The company posted the following statement on its Facebook page: “The Jim Henson Company has celebrated and embraced diversity and inclusiveness for over 50 years and we have notified Chick-fil-A that we do not wish to partner with them on any future endeavors. Lisa Henson, our CEO, is personally a strong supporter of gay marriage and has directed us to donate the payment we received from Chick-fil-A to GLAAD” (an advocacy group for lesbian, gay and transgender people). The company posted the following statement on its Facebook page: “The Jim Henson Company has celebrated and embraced diversity and inclusiveness for over 50 years and we have notified Chick-fil-A that we do not wish to partner with them on any future endeavors. selek1 Posted August 2, 2012 Posted August 2, 2012 They are.On the contrary, fascism is a leftist movement- endorsed by luminaries such as Franklin Delano Roosevelt- not a rightist ot conservative one.
treehugger Posted August 2, 2012 Posted August 2, 2012 Still no CFR or links If they gave money to their Baptist Church in Jonesboro or the LDS's...I guess that would qualiffy. Just one CFR or link...please.Never let facts get in the way of a good agenda.Seems so...First off papa, No one asked for a CFR prior your "still no CFRs" and since there were no CFRs issued that brings into question your tactics here. And yes, never let the fact of one persons unwillingness to be inform stand in the way of the facts. while I understand your circumstances might limit your movements or other abilities (are you still one your back) perhaps it would help if you read news from original sources and not from a source that promotes itself as "we read the news so you don't have too".I brought up in a now closed thread created by selek1 that CFA had donated money Winshape. Here is the entire post of mine:If I gave money to lighthouse ministries, hardly a soul here would think twice about calling me an anti-mormon.Yet, when Chik Fil A gives money to anti-gay groups, and groups which oppose gay marriage, it is unconscionable and shredding of the Constitution to suggest that the Cathy's oppose gay marriage. Here is a statement from Cathy from over a year ago:"While my family and I believe in the Biblical definition of marriage, we love and respect anyone who disagrees," Cathy added.Chik Fil A run Winshape Retreat which bars homosexual couples from attending. So just to be clear as the Mississippi after a rain storm, the Cathy's/Chik Fil A support traditional marriage, but made no oral statement concerning expressing opposition gay marriage (except that they support Biblical Marriage, and "Biblical Marriage" is code for we do not support and are opposed to ssm)........who is speaking Orwellian in this situation.Selek, it is unfortunate that others you were engaged with could not respect the fact that opinions differ. But I do find your protestations ironic.IIRC others have mentioned CFA donations to anti-gay groups.Lastly, your CFR here is simply in my opinion just a method of you to pester, and given your recent CFRs to me, your current CFR seem less and less about you wanting to know information but more about hassling someone with a CFR.But since you asked for donation information:equalitymatters.org
selek1 Posted August 2, 2012 Posted August 2, 2012 Two can play at this game:http://www.latimes.c...0,1227873.storyI vow from this day forth that I nor anyone in my family will be supporting ANY Jim Henson, CO. productions.Amen and amen.Henson's company will never see another dime from my pocket.
The Nehor Posted August 2, 2012 Posted August 2, 2012 On the contrary, fascism is a leftist movement- endorsed by luminaries such as Franklin Delano Roosevelt- not a rightist ot conservative one. Then why do fascists vote Republican? And I assure you they do. Are we going to have to argue about who is a True Scotsman now?
selek1 Posted August 2, 2012 Posted August 2, 2012 That is why I said mostly. Guys can get it but it is pretty rare.Yeah- but that's not what you were wrong about.Barr (in addition to her other manifest shortcomings) is a tinfoil-hat wearing member of the anti-processed and anti-gengineered foods movement. "The" cancer to which she was referring was not specific to tissue types (such as breast, ovarian, or liver), but was, rather, the "uber-cancer" caused by eating modern processed foods.Of course, in my not-so-humble opinion, the cancer that is eating away at her soul- wishing harm upon people are their children simply for a difference of opinion- is far more destructive and nefarious.
The Nehor Posted August 2, 2012 Posted August 2, 2012 "The" cancer to which she was referring was not specific to tissue types (such as breast, ovarian, or liver), but was, rather, the "uber-cancer" caused by eating modern processed foods.Oh....well I already have that. No worries then.
selek1 Posted August 2, 2012 Posted August 2, 2012 (edited) Then why do fascists vote Republican? And I assure you they do. Are we going to have to argue about who is a True Scotsman now?Do you mean outside the vasty realms of urban legend and leftist faith-promoting-rumor? I'm not sure this has been established as anything other than a media article of faith.Assuming that it's genuine (which I don't):Perhaps because they've drunk the media Kool-aid?If there is a "No True Scotsman" fallacy involved, it was smuggled in in your baggage, not mine.Categorically and definitively, fascism is a leftist movement in which power lies with the state and its apparatus rather than with the plebescite. Individual and property rights are subordinated to the State, rather than being inherent and inalienable. That having been said, what individual fascists support with their vote may have little to do with the actual nature of their ideology.Because this digression is wildly out of the context and intention of the thread, I will not further comment towards this end.The matter at hand is whether non-discrimination statutes and the political movement surrounding same-sex marriage represent a threat to our First Amendment freedoms of speech, worship, and association. Thus far, the answer has unequivocably been "Yes". Edited August 2, 2012 by selek1
The Nehor Posted August 2, 2012 Posted August 2, 2012 Perhaps because they've drunk the media Kool-aid?So you are telling me extremists that virtually everyone hates vote the way they do because the media told them to. I'm now wondering who has been sipping said Kool-aid.Categorically and definitively, fascism is a leftist movement in which power lies with the state and its apparatus rather than with the plebescite. Individual and property rights are subordinated to the State, rather than being inherent and inalienable.Which is no bar to them being on the Right end of the spectrum. Historically individual rights have been the Left's interest. That having been said, what individual fascists support with their vote may have little to do with the actual nature of their ideology. And the "No True Scotsman" arrives. "They are fascists but they don't know what fascism really is."Count-down to thread lock in 3......2.....
selek1 Posted August 2, 2012 Posted August 2, 2012 (edited) First off papa, No one asked for a CFR prior your "still no CFRs" and since there were no CFRs issued that brings into question your tactics here. Rot and rubbish. There have been CFR's for the "anti-gay" meme throughout the thread. And yes, never let the fact of one persons unwillingness to be inform stand in the way of the facts. That would also, necessarily- include your willingness to be uninformed. while I understand your circumstances might limit your movements or other abilities (are you still one your back) perhaps it would help if you read news from original sources and not from a source that promotes itself as "we read the news so you don't have too". A gratuitous "Fox News slam"- a lefty, well-poisoning tradition. How utterly original.I brought up in a now closed thread created by selek1 that CFA had donated money Winshape. Yes- and the rhetorical sleight of hand was noticed both then and now.Opposing homosexual marriage does not make one "anti-gay", any more than speed-limit laws makes me "anti-car".The "anti-gay" slur is a cheap rhetorical trick intended to pigeon-hole and discredit someone without addressing the nature of their position or arguments. In short- it is demagoguery and well-poisoning rather than reasoned debate.IIRC others have mentioned CFA donations to anti-gay groups. No- only to groups who oppose same-sex marriage. There is a distinct and unsubtle difference between the two.Lastly, your CFR here is simply in my opinion just a method of you to pester, and given your recent CFRs to me, your current CFR seem less and less about you wanting to know information but more about hassling someone with a CFR. Ah- victimhood. The second-to-last refuge of the scoundrel.Your opinion is irrelevant. You've already given us that many times. What you have not given us is an objective reason to believe your claims. But since you asked for donation information:equalitymatters.orgSo- in other words, "anti-gay" is defined solely at the whim of those who advocate, demand, and agititate for homosexual marriage?Kinda puts paid to your whole "why don't you think for yourself" insinuation against PaPa and Kevin G when you simply vomit up someone else's propaganda. selek1 Posted August 2, 2012 Posted August 2, 2012 So you are telling me extremists that virtually everyone hates vote the way they do because the media told them to. I'm now wondering who has been sipping said Kool-aid. No- nor did I imply any such thing.I did, however, suggest that they might have swallowed the "fascism is a right wing movement" meme. And the "No True Scotsman" arrives. "They are fascists but they don't know what fascism really is."Count-down to thread lock in 3......2.....I'm sure that was your intention- though I sincerely hope you fail in that regard.
wenglund Posted August 2, 2012 Posted August 2, 2012 The political spectrum is divided between those who eat Hummus and those who eat Chick-fil-aSo, my girl friend and I aren't the only ones to have seen that movie (we checked it out from the library after brushing off the dust). [thumbs up]Thanks, -Wade Englund-
The Nehor Posted August 2, 2012 Posted August 2, 2012 So you are telling me extremists that virtually everyone hates vote the way they do because the media told them to. I'm now wondering who has been sipping said Kool-aid.No- nor did I imply any such thing.I did, however, suggest that they might have swallowed the "fascism is a right wing movement" meme.So you deny that they vote that you said or implied they vote that way because the media told them to but that they vote that way because they swallowed the media meme the media told them?I'm sure that was your intention- though I sincerely hope you fail in that regard.Nope, my intention was to have some fun. The thread locking is just a hilarious side-effect.
