KevinG Posted August 2, 2012 Posted August 2, 2012 Now, now, not TH- why would we adopt your sides tactics?Same-sex marriage has lost everywhere it's been left to the people (as opposed to their political masters) to decide.Rather than face that fact, radical homosexuals look for the easy-out of blaming the Catholics, the Mormons, and the Cathys.Just as people who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones, radical leftists are in no position to lecture about simplistic arguments and solutions. To answer your question, however- as of the last update I saw, no- the individual is not yet in custody.Apparently, however, that particular bright bulb made the phone call from a traceable number and police have a number of leads they are pursuing.I expect we'll know more tomorrow.Of course, there are only three possibilities about the perpetrator:1) he is an ideological fellow traveller of the homosexual movement making a political statement.2) he is an opponent of the homosexual movement making a political statement3) he is a random loon or malcontent and fan of the "Jackass" series of movies and shows.Now- honestly- which of these three is the most likely?George Stephanopolous has placed a bet on the Tea Party.
wenglund Posted August 2, 2012 Posted August 2, 2012 If I gave money to lighthouse ministries, hardly a soul here would think twice about calling me an anti-mormon.CFR. Having given them money, myself, I for one wouldn't think at all, or even once, about calling you an anti-Mormon on that basis alone. But, feel free to go on making your point about uninformed people getting in the way of facts. I can't wait to see how devoted you are to your hypocritic oath and absurd equivalences.Yet, when Chik Fil A gives money to anti-gay groups, and groups which oppose gay marriage, it is unconscionable and shredding of the Constitution to suggest that the Cathy's oppose gay marriage.Ah...you didn't disappoint. You couldn't have spun this any worse--speaking of uninformed people getting in the way of facts. Nicely done!! You made hypocrisy look so effortless. Thanks, -Wade Englund-
Zakuska Posted August 2, 2012 Posted August 2, 2012 (edited) Some good new coverages. The 4th video down is good. An interview with Alderman.http://www.cnn.com/2...tion/index.htmlLooks like the alderman is lieing his teeth out and changing his story. In the previous interview he says that it was Chick-Fil-A who brought up the idea of a No-Discriminatory policy before talks could begin. However, In this interview he claims that it was he who initiated the idea.http://chicagotonigh...quare-chick-fil Edited August 2, 2012 by Zakuska
KevinG Posted August 2, 2012 Posted August 2, 2012 (edited) I brought up in a now closed thread created by selek1 that CFA had donated money Winshape.A foundation that supports much more than heterosexual marriages... http://winshape.com/Funny how you want to deny someone their freedom of association and then proclaim you are a victim when they push back for their constitutional rights.Again a CFR for a real anti-gay group Chick-fil-a donates to would be nice or stop making that false claim. (Being pro heterosexual marriage does not make one anti-gay despite the propaganda being spewed here.)PS I just enjoyed a delicious Chick-fil-a shake tonight. The line was around the block. People that disagree with me have a right to their opinion, and I have a right to mine," he said.
wenglund Posted August 2, 2012 Posted August 2, 2012 If there is a "No True Scotsman" fallacy involved, it was smuggled in in your baggage, not mine. Are you talking about the fallacy of the proof being in the kilt? Thanks, -Wade Englund-
selek1 Posted August 2, 2012 Posted August 2, 2012 (edited) George Stephanopolous has placed a bet on the Tea Party. So did ABC's Brian Ross a little over a week ago.So much for media objectivity.I found this line to be ironic:Proponents of same-sex marriage organized a simple counterprotest for Wednesday, asking people to donate the approximate cost of a Chick-fil-A meal, about $6.50, to gay and lesbian rights groups, according to the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation, known as GLAAD.Proponents of "same sex marriage" picked this fight over a year ago.Proponents of "same sex marriage" announced a "kiss-in" weeks ago.But their efforts- rather than the grass-roots response from Americans- are the "counter protest".As usual, the media ideologues and their faithful Kool-aid drinkers have this precisely bass-ackwards Edited August 2, 2012 by selek1 2

KevinG Posted August 2, 2012 Posted August 2, 2012 I'm noticing press stories characterizing the Chick-fil-a day supporters as anti-gay marriage with some mention of free speech rights. Again Bass Ackwards - to a person everyone I have spoken to here in Georgia was there to support free speech rights with a few that felt they were making a statement about marriage.
treehugger Posted August 2, 2012 Posted August 2, 2012 A foundation that supports much more than same sex marriages... http://winshape.com/You might need to rephrase that. Winshape does not support same sex marriages.Funny how you want to deny someone their freedom of association and then proclaim you are a victim when they push back for their constitutional rights. who is the you in that sentence, I did not claim to be a victim nor have I proclaimed some one should jot be able to freely associate.Maybe I missed it, but you Kevin, never stated whether you support the Constitutional rights of those opposed to CFA to engage in Constitutional expression of their opposition to CFA.Again a CFR for a real anti-gay group Chick-fil-a donates to would be nice or stop making that false claim. (Being pro heterosexual marriage does not make one anti-gay despite the propaganda being spewed here.)Yes keep up the propaganda. But let's think about, to support ONLY Biblical marriage means that a person is neither hot or cold about ssm, right? Your position is that it is false to extrapolate opposition to ssm. So the person is neither hot or cold on the issue of ssm.And what did Jesus say about being neither hot or cold? It is complete dishonesty (and the worst kind of propaganda) to claim that support ONLY for Biblical marriage or traditional marriage does not mean disapproval or opposition to ssm.
treehugger Posted August 2, 2012 Posted August 2, 2012 Kevin do you support the Constitutional right of free speech which speech is in opposition to CFA stance? Do you support the Constitutional rights of those opposed to CFA to engage in boycotts, and other lawful means of opposition?
KevinG Posted August 2, 2012 Posted August 2, 2012 You are correct I meant heterosexual marriage.Still waiting for those hate groups you mentioned:Like this hate group: http://winshapehomes.org/our-foster-home-program/Or this hateful program: http://winshape.org/college/2.0/Or this vile discriminatory practice: http://www.winshape.org/camps/welcome/#/welcome/

Do you support the Constitutional rights of those opposed to CFA to engage in boycotts, and other lawful means of opposition? Sure they do. But they don't have the right to block the business from locating in a city if they are public servants.I'm not trying to deny freedom of association to companies or boycotting companies with gay board members or executives. Why are you getting so bent out of shape when people come together to peaceably support the free speech rights of a good Christian man and his family business by eating chicken sandwiches. It sure is more productive and less provocative than say "the Folsom street fair". Edited August 2, 2012 by KevinG

But I see nothing about anti-gay. Perhaps you can find it for me in their materials and not just in your imagination. Edited August 2, 2012 by KevinG

Madigan is also the daughter of the state’s most powerful Democrat, Illinois House Speaker Michael Madigan (D-Chicago). “Some have said that Attorney General Lisa Madigan is unwilling to investigate political corruption, particularly corruption in her own party. We are providing her with an opportunity to prove her critics wrong,” Cleveland said.Maura Possley, a spokeswoman for Lisa Madigan, said the GOP complaint is currently under review.Suzanne Devane, Republican committeeman of the 49th Ward, said the complaint was filed not for political theater, but to stop what she called a pattern of “government using its unique and overwhelming power to curtail the free expression of religion and the free exercise” of public expression.Devane pointed to President Barack Obama’s decision not to defend the Defense of Marriage Act and the federal mandate tied to ObamaCare that requires most religiously affiliated employers to cover the cost of their employees’ birth control. “Now, we have an American company whose founder believes in the traditional Judeo-Christian definition of marriage and he’s being told that he can’t open a second location in the city?” Devane said. “It’s a tragedy that this erosion is being orchestrated by the Democratic Party in a bald attempt to curry political favor. … We need to safeguard religious freedom, freedom of expression, freedom of speech. We need to rein in those who would throw away our constitutional liberties just to win elections and garner a few campaign contributions.” Looks like business as usual on the streets of Chicago. If your' not one of the boys we know how to deal with you...

Zakuska Posted August 2, 2012 Posted August 2, 2012 (edited) The plot thickens:They need the support of the local alderman," he told us. "And I want to support them." Moreno said he's been working with the company for nine months to iron out some traffic issues and to address his concerns that the Cathy family's WinShape Foundation has contributed to anti-gay organizations. "This is the civil rights issue of our generation," he said.Moreno said the company assured him it follows laws of any state or municipality in which it operates and that it would not take a public policy position in favor of anti-gay causes. The alderman asked for more: He wanted the company to adopt a nationwide anti-discrimination policy, make a public pledge to support equal rights and display a 4-by-8-inch rainbow sticker on the door of the Logan Park restaurant. But he says he pulled the plug on negotiations after learning about Cathy's "bigoted, homophobic comments" in a Baptist publication. Cathy said the company supports "the biblical definition of the family unit. We are a family-owned business, a family-led business, and we are married to our first wives."Those are fighting words to some of those who support other types of family units. Petitions are flying. Boycotts are under way. Boston's mayor has promised to block the chain from moving into his city.http://articles.chic...rights-aldermanI wonder if the Chicago alderman has similar requirements for other Businesses in his ward who donate to conservative causes?IE sporting Gay friendly stickers in their doors and windows (reminds me of a certian group of people in this century who were also forced to wear marks) and nation wide Public Policies?See the LGBT is using blackmail in its bag of tricks now to BULLY the rest of us. Zakuska Posted August 2, 2012 Posted August 2, 2012 (edited) Just as I thought...The Chick-Fill-A wants to build in the parking lot of a Home Depot...http://news.change.o...-t-tell-the-afaWhich gives liberally to Anti-Gay conservative groups.Meanwhile, the PAC gave generously to PAC's associated with tried and true conservatives like Reps Eric Cantor, John Boehner, and Lynn Westmoreland, all of whom have voted against gay marriage, among other things. And on a more personal level, Home Depot's PAC gave Westmoreland another $10,000 in campaign contributions, and lavished the same amount on Pat Toomey, the Senatorial candidate who in the past voted against every LGBT issue possible. And that's just a sample of Home Depot PAC's favorite Republicans. In total, Republican Senators and Representatives have amassed a grand total of $434,000 in Home Depot-related money this election season, while the Democratic candidates received a comparatively low $251,000, according to the Center for Responsive Politics' records.I wonder if the alderman and Chicago mayor have been working with Home Depot as well to bully them into making public appologies and sport 4x8 rainbow signs in their doors and windows?
