The Trinity was invented in the Dark Ages by priests who had a hard time accepting the concept that God was a Man. So they came up with the idea of the Trinity and it caught on real fast. It devoured Christiandom and in time the truth about God's real nature was lost. Joseph Smith put an end to the Trinitarian monopoly. Thank God.Paul O

Actually, it was late 3rd century, it didn't have unanamous approval at the Nicene Council (those that opposed it were exiled) and it would take another hundred years plus undergo some minor revisions before the other major churches of that time would even embrace it.

Paul Osborne Posted November 28, 2004 Posted November 28, 2004 I don't think the religious thinkers who invented the Trinity were well versed with the scriptures they had in their posession. There were not very many copies at hand and a thourough knowledge of all the stories and experiences in the Testaments was certainly not universal.How they came up with the Trinity is amazing in itself. They turned a simple concept into a convoluted idea that should have never been given a green light. Someone really pulled some strings to get that one off the ground.It's kind of like Christ was taken up into a wave of electricity and the Father is a wave of light with gases surrounding his personage. Actually, according to current Egyptology, the Trinity is like the Egyptian gods. Perhaps they were trying to compete with Egypt so they turned the plural Gods into one being thinking that would make him more supreme.Paul O
