A woman is paralysed after falling 20 feet from a tree and snapping her spinal cord while playing a version of The Hunger Games.

Tere Parra, from Mexico, had recently returned from a mission to Los Angeles for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints before the life-changing accident on June 2.

On that fateful day, the 25-year-old had climbed a tree in Big Springs Park in Provo Canyon, Utah, to escape her opponents while playing a mock version of The Hunger Games.

She has no medical insurance. So friends and family are trying to raise money to cover her bills.

Expect prayers would also be appreciated for her and her family, with the huge change this is going to make to their lives.

That's devasting. I hope for a cure for this girl, but have a feeling she will rise to any occasion given her, eventually.

Thanks for the nice, large print! ;) (Seriously, all the best to this young woman and her family.)

It was large before I pressed 'post'. Don't know why it changed, but will try to change it.

Living in a country where such injuries are covered by the government run medical plan which costs us $121/month, I cannot imagine the financial costs.
