Jeff K. Posted March 27, 2012 Posted March 27, 2012 I started off as a committed Evangelical Christian, but after several years of debating some very educated Mormons on this board I realized my position wasn't much more defensible than theirs. Now I'm an atheist. There was more to my de-conversion than just discussions here, but this is where my journey of doubt began.I agree, it is unfortunate. Faith in God is an important aspect of hope in life. I hope you find it in your own way and in your own time.

Jeff K. Posted March 27, 2012 Posted March 27, 2012 What do water fowl have to do with conspiracy theories?
KevinG Posted March 27, 2012 Posted March 27, 2012 What do water fowl have to do with conspiracy theories?Conspiracists are quackers!
Ralph Man Posted March 27, 2012 Posted March 27, 2012 So you left the Church in favor of books, articles, and other people? Why can't you have books, articles, other people, and the Church at the same time? I wasn't aware that one needed to leave the Church in order to find books, articles, and other people. He's saying he found information and arguments in books, articles, and other people that persuaded him to not belong to the LDS Church.
Bill “Papa” Lee Posted March 27, 2012 Posted March 27, 2012 I left the Illuminati because of what I learned on this board.I'm still in...and taking names.

DBMormon Posted March 30, 2012 Posted March 30, 2012 I haven't converted from one side to another but in my personal growth I have changed sides on issuesOLD ME NEW ME- saved by works Saved by merits, mercy, and grace of Christ- Evolution is evil leans toward evolution being legit- LDS leaders should be followed 100% at all times BY, BRMcConkie, and JFSmith said some really bad statements that I . can't followYet I am still LDS and while testimony is a lot of ups and downs I still hold to the faith
SearchDog Posted April 1, 2012 Posted April 1, 2012 I'm a non-believer of Mormon truth claims...but I respect those of you who maintain the ability to do so. I've observed since first discovering this board, that the same posters (on both sides of any question) keep posting the same old rehashed arguments over and over and over again....to the same old retreaded threads. (and I'm not counting myself out of any guilt) But I am curious, have any of these arguments ever convinced someone from the oposite camp to switch sides and either become a believer or a non-believer...or is posting here just a place to waist our time?My best hope is that anyone who comes to this site will not base their decision to believe or not believe on what is posted here, but will instead invest a few Sundays to go to a chapel near them to see what this church is truly about. The Spirit will be stronger at a chapel than in a debate/discussion forum.
