TruthSeeker24 Posted January 4, 2012 Posted January 4, 2012 Can unembodied spirits moved physical objects? I know They can posesscan people, but what about objects? Can spirits watch you undress? I know these questions sound totally weird but I have my reasons for asking lol
bluebell Posted January 4, 2012 Posted January 4, 2012 I personally believe that they can manipulate objects, but i have no scriptural support to back that up.
The Nehor Posted January 4, 2012 Posted January 4, 2012 I doubt most of them can move anything without dispensation from God. My own (regretted) encounter with devilish miracles suggests to me they are more akin to tricks of the mind.I'm not worried about spirits watching me undress (if they can). The servants of Lucifer never had bodies and probably know nothing of sexual desire so sex to them is probably about as pornographic as watching a game of chess is to us (assuming the non-strip variety of the game). The righteous dead probably won't and I'm guessing the unrighteous dead are restricted in access to humanity. I suspect they see us more clearly then we see them.....but not by much. They have their own concerns
Jeff K. Posted January 4, 2012 Posted January 4, 2012 Having watched all of the "Ghost Hunter" programs on syfy, I can safely say that while they cannot move objects, they are incredibly camera shy, and appear to reside only in those places where the lighting is bad. 2

The Nehor Posted January 4, 2012 Posted January 4, 2012 I think that's kind of funny because it precisely because of the Ghost Hunters show that I do believe they can, sometimes and in certain circumstances, move things. The problem is those circumstances appear to be when someone is aware but can't see the event well, in a believed to be haunted place, as long as no definitive proof can be created out of it.I have a hard time believing that God set up such weird laws about the veil between the living and the dead......unless it is one of his practical jokes.
JAHS Posted January 4, 2012 Posted January 4, 2012 Can unembodied spirits moved physical objects? I know They can posesscan people, but what about objects? Can spirits watch you undress? I know these questions sound totally weird but I have my reasons for asking lolI don't think they can move objects. Whenever God had a task for an angel to perform which required physical contact with something or someone, He used those who have been resurrected so they could perform tasks, such as handing over the gold plates to joseph smith (Moroni), or confering the priesthood on to Joseph Smith and Oliver cowdery (John the Baptist, Peter, James and John.) etc.
Jeff K. Posted January 4, 2012 Posted January 4, 2012 Its like UFO's. Why is the lighting always bad, why can't a ghost appear in the middle of the day? What rules apply or don't. With the incredible ubiquitous cel phone which does more than merely make calls, why is it no one has seen one of these phantoms clearly? It is one thing to believe that ghosts of various types exist, it is another to believe proof of their existence has been documented. Like bigfoot, we wait earnestly for something conclusive in our technological world. I think the wait will be in vain.

You can actually see the bag, hanging by the man's waste as he was standing still, raise up and hit him in the face with enough force to knock the very chuncky man onto his back. The sound guy had a red welt on his face and a really weird emotional reaction (sobbed about how there was no hope and claimed afterwards that he had never felt such darkness before or such a level of hopelessness-it took him quite a while to emotionally recover).I'm not advocating that the event proves any 'laws', other than, in some circumstances such interaction seems to be possible. I also believe that most 'hauntings' are the followers of satan just trying to create havoc and fear in our world and that the more someone has 'faith' in their abilities, the more power they have to manifest themselves (just my own theory). I don't believe that the spirits of dead people actually haunt anything.
zerinus Posted January 4, 2012 Posted January 4, 2012 Can unembodied spirits moved physical objects? I know They can posesscan people, but what about objects? Can spirits watch you undress? I know these questions sound totally weird but I have my reasons for asking lolI think that they can have whatever power God allows them to have. Satan for example can see us and tempt us. God allowed him to do terrible things to Job to test him. He used great power to prevent Joseph Smith from exercising faith in God to receive the First Vision. He can give to false prophets power to perform miracles to deceive those who are not of the elect (Matthew 24:24). So apparently there is quite a lot that he can do, when God allows him to. But his power is limited by the Lord. He can't do what God does not want him to do.
Lightbearer Posted January 6, 2012 Posted January 6, 2012 I am not sure of non-living objects but they (evil spirits) apparently had the power to lift Newel Knight off the ground when he was possessed of the devil...(see History of the Church Vol. 1 Pages 82-83) Also the magicians of the Egyptians had the power to duplicate Moses' miracles (all but the last one) so I would not limit what evil spirits are capable of, but all spirits are bound by the laws of God and must obey. As for voyuer spirits who knows? But I do know that lust is a temptation of the devil and one of his number one lures that he assaults us all with. They (evil spirits) can be controlled by the power of the Priesthood and faith in Christ of that I am absolutely certain.

Part of me does not trust what I see, as people can easily manipulate camera footage. However, I really don't think either of those shows do that. But I really don't know.I enjoy watching those shows. I find them very fascinating. As for now, I would say that, "Yes they can".And no I am not trying to copy someones slogan, who I dont really care for.

Tarski Posted January 6, 2012 Posted January 6, 2012 When are we going ghost hunting? There are several good spots in Cali.Oh my I would love it.But, I am quite sure you would be disappointed at how strangely uneventful it would be with me around.

What do you make of the stuff in the Bible like when the priests of Pharoah mimicked many of the miracles of God--but not all of them? How about Legion entering into the swine? How about D&C 61 with the canoes on the Missouri River?

I think if they did try to mimic Moses it was using stage magic not sorcery.Legion I believe.D&C 61 I have no idea how to understand that. It is outside my experience. Something happened but I couldn't tell you what it was.

altersteve Posted January 15, 2012 Posted January 15, 2012 I'm assuming that a spirit beging has some form of spirit body - so can a spirit body moveanother spirit body [i made a similar sounding post in another thread].Spirits have spirit bodies, but these bodies are not flesh and bone and therefore not physical.
Calm Posted January 16, 2012 Posted January 16, 2012 (edited) I'm assuming that a spirit beging has some form of spirit body - so can a spirit body moveanother spirit body [i made a similar sounding post in another thread].I would not be surprised if this were so...that there is an interaction between spirits similar to the physical interactions of our physical bodies, but we are given no information so it would be pure speculation anyone claiming one position or another.A thought that just occurred to me as I was about to hit post....There are some that take the discussion of the Holy Ghost and how it interacts with men to mean that his spirit body can occupy the same spiritual space that our own spirits occupy and this is how he communicates with us. If so, this means that spiritual material may be fundamentally different than physical matter and thus may not be able to interact in an analogous way. Me, I don't see it that way. I don't believe the spirit and the body 'fit' perfectly together like a hand in a glove even if this is the analogy that is taught in Primary as our spirits are "adults" when we are born as well as when we are grown and I don't see the spirit being 'stuffed' into an infant's body like one trying to push pillow stuffing into a case that is too small to hold it all comfortably nor do I believe it is something along the lines of the genie being able to fit inside the lamp (phenomenal cosmic powers, itty bitty living space). I see the relationship between our spirits and body to likely be closer to the Hitchhiker's Guide where a certain life form that looked like white mice was described as the physical (three or four dimensional) aspect or manifestation of hyperintelligent, pandimensional beings.
