Messenger Posted June 12, 2011 Posted June 12, 2011 (edited) I dont know what prompted me to be thankful for my blessings, I suppose its good to do once in a while.1. My home I live in.2. The ward I attend.3. My close friends.4. The town I live In.5. The Job I have & the people there, especially my boss.6. The reliable car I drive.7. My good neighbors.8. My possessions I own which serve their purpose well.9. My son, to whom I am very proud for his recent graduation.10. My ex-wife, for our recent civil and polite discussions.11. My health and my doctor12. The Holy Ghost for filling in my understanding when I don’t.13. The church, the gospel, Heavenly Father, and Jesus Christ - that in itself is huge. Garden Girl Posted June 12, 2011 Posted June 12, 2011 (edited) Hello Messenger...Do you know, I know exactly how you feel... the other day I was filled with gratitude for so many things in my life, right along the lines that you listed except for an ex-spouse. But I was grateful for such a good husband and the 38 years we shared... and the eternities that we will share. My heart was filled with such a sense of overflowing joy and happiness that I wanted to shout it out... but, being alone, I had no one to tell... Bob the cat didn't seem too impressed. So enjoy the feeling and I hope you have it often... every day I realize how blessed I am, both temporally and spiritually and express my gratitude to Heavenly Father.GG Edited June 12, 2011 by Garden Girl
Messenger Posted June 12, 2011 Author Posted June 12, 2011 GG,Thanks. I dont have any cats where I live, so the internet is my portal for self-expression. I wish I felt that everyday, but until I do, I will keep trying my best to be thankful everyday. 1
sjdawg Posted June 13, 2011 Posted June 13, 2011 I think regardless of religious affiliation it is always beneficial to reflect on the good things in our lives. 2
Garden Girl Posted June 13, 2011 Posted June 13, 2011 I agree wholeheartedly sjdawg... except for the last two items in Messenger's list, the list could have been written by anyone, religious or not. GG
Walden Posted June 14, 2011 Posted June 14, 2011 I think regardless of religious affiliation it is always beneficial to reflect on the good things in our lives. With that caveat ("regardless of religious affiliation"), though I am an atheist, and thus don't consider the following as "blessings" in any divine sense, I am still extremely grateful for:1. My beautiful, devoted and hardworking wife of 10 years2. My two fantastic sons3. The safe, friendly community where we live4. Our simple but comfortable home5. The jobs that my wife and I both have6. The good friends that we share our lives with7. Our chocolate lab, who makes even bad days seem okay8. Our health9. This great country
wcdrotar Posted June 19, 2011 Posted June 19, 2011 1. My body odor is contained by my garments.2. My tithing is getting invested in tax-exempt real estate, mutual funds, and stocks. Tax-exempt. Hallelujah!3. The Lord doesn't require transparency in regards to our tithing, but we need be so transparent we have tithing settlement.4. 13% of YSA's are active. That is several hundred thousand! 5. Utah is ranked highest for depression and porn. Thus we are given opportunities to see sin and know its evil. 6. The brethren only allow themselves to be recorded when reading from teleprompters. This ensures that when they're repeating a lesson paying tithing for the hundreth time it's peer-reviewed, it also let's Elder Holland practice what moments he'll do his planned emotional breakdowns.7. BKP reminded the Church to not get offended by the Church's history. It's important to not let facts or reality offend you from the gospel.I would have never guessed these things.

Messenger Posted June 30, 2011 Author Posted June 30, 2011 (edited) Im thankful for more ...- For my internet access that allows me to study the gospel on-line.- For a past boss, who was LDS, to whom I have recently reconnected on Facebook.- For friends & family active, inactive and non-member.- For the goodness in people that emerges and which is acted on despite other reasons which seem logical.- For the country I live in, despite its challenges ...Allows me to worship the Gospel without fear from those that disagree.Provides a living to me, with the job I have. For the beauty of it, which is all around.Which give people in other countries, hope, and the desire to secure the same thing. For those that struggled, endured, and gave up thier lives so that I may have the above. HiJolly Posted July 1, 2011 Posted July 1, 2011 where did you get that stat that %13 of YSAs are active? It's a number that's been mentioned RE: the YSA ward reorgs done a month or two ago here in UT. Dunno how reliable it is. wcdrotar's post is something I would hope to never read in the "Social Hall". wcdrotar needs to stay in forums where that attitude is acceptable. IMO. HiJolly

One Clear Voice Posted August 3, 2011 Posted August 3, 2011 Im thankful for more ...- For my internet access that allows me to study the gospel on-line.- For a past boss, who was LDS, to whom I have recently reconnected on Facebook.- For friends & family active, inactive and non-member.- For the goodness in people that emerges and which is acted on despite other reasons which seem logical.- For the country I live in, despite its challenges ...Allows me to worship the Gospel without fear from those that disagree.Provides a living to me, with the job I have. For the beauty of it, which is all around.Which give people in other countries, hope, and the desire to secure the same thing. For those that struggled, endured, and gave up thier lives so that I may have the above. Looks like the Idaho Falls Temple! One of my favorite. Plus I have relatives that live there! I used to visit quite often! 1
Messenger Posted August 5, 2011 Author Posted August 5, 2011 More this week .....- Im thankful for a really great bishop who took the time to interview me for my temple recommend- Im thankful for the questions that were asked, and the way it drew me closer to Heavenly Father- Im thankful for the final question, "Do you think you are worthy to enter the house of the Lord?" Because I realized for the most part, I was just as comfortable living my life and going to the temple without feeling out of sync with the Lord.- Im thankful to realize that, while I am not perfect, and there are times that I am out of sync, the real key is getting back in sync.- I am thankful for the Idaho Falls Temple, and I look forward to being inside of it soon.Wow, what an awesome day! Absolutely incredible!
Messenger Posted August 7, 2011 Author Posted August 7, 2011 Just got back from my stake interview .... awesome. I felt very welcomed and It was nice to have the spirit on my side. Today's lesson in High Preist group was that a testimony is not a destination, its a journey. I like that!
