A Breath of Fresh Air

Since when are personal attacks allowed on this forum? What you fail to see David is that Will is routinely attacked by critics on the other board. This surely affects the way he posts and responds to such critics. What you need to do is to also condemn the critics who attack certain apologists at random. One must have leather skin not to be affected by the personal attacks by critics as Will has been.

I don't think that's really a personal attack. He's just disagreeing with Will's methods.

Your willingness to misrepresent is well-noted and, frankly, quite expected. I am also not surprised, in the least, by those who concur with you.

As I have frequently noted: "You can only judge the distance by the company you keep."

Suffice it to say that I know where I stand and who stands with me.

Fixed it for ya! ;)

Have you ever dumped gas on a fire?

I agree.

Personally, I would like to see it stop.

It seems daniel that some people have no idea just what it feels like to be personally attacked by critics as you and Will have been. And how such attacks may influence the way an attacked person posts. David seems clueless on this issue.

I think the Savior's admonition to turn the other cheek is relevant here.

You've obviously missed David's threads on consecration.

The post that I quoted from was an attack on Will's apologetics and the way Will responds to critics. But David has no insight just how Will has been personally attacked by critics and how this may affect the way Will responds to such attacks and to the posters who make them.

Personal attacks?!! Will has on several occasions made public accusations against me of apostasy. The comment you posted was my response to the following assertion:

"Sadly, I fear this may be true. What you fail to understand is that I am not the only one who is watching. How tragic when aspirations and possibilities draw further and further apart, without us even being aware ... "

When Will suggests that he has personal connections with unnamed others who will destroy my personal aspirations, do I not have the right and responsibility to respond?

This would have been much nicer (read Christ-like if ya like) if it was done in a intervention sort of way. As it comes off now, it appears as not much more than a personal quibble. Now its getting play by the people who seem to hate Will the most, and frequently use his name as target practice. Not a good move from David B and company if you ask me. No love lost, it seems, from either side. Sadly this is reality.

Everyone sees both behaviors, neither of which is acceptable. . Defending one because the others do it is a slippery slope.

I try to understand that we are all people behind the screen and as such, we go through life's hardships, joys and turmoils. And our daily life experiences can affect the way we post and respond to people on discussion forums. But Will has often been personally attacked on one board and even recently a very sad term was used to describe him. I can understand why Will responds the way he does to such critics and posters. True, it is not a breath of fresh air but it is understandable taken in context.

I just think that David was out of line when he attacked Will's apologetics and his response to the critics. Empathy comes when we can put ourselves in the other's shoes.

I prefer squirting lighter fluid from a safe distance.

But that is not what you did. Lol.

It's not like he insulted his mother or called him a liar. And David has been attacked many times here, and yet he doesn't resort to questioning the faith of people who don't share his opinions. Or making veiled threats about destroying people's careers.

And you may become apart of the problem since you started a thread on the other board which of course, will give more personal attacks against Will or in the least, give praise to David.

I am sorry Whyme, but I cannot understand the reason Will responds the way he does, even if everything you claim is true. If fact the way he responds goes against everything he is trying to defend.

In a truly classy move, one of the posters here has called the attention of Will Schryver's obsessive enemies over on a predominantly apostate board to this thread, in order to give them (redundant) further material for their daily Orwellian Two Minutes of Hate.

That was very helpful, and, no doubt, motivated by profound Christian charity.

I think that David was a little harsh toward Will's apologetics and his response to critics. David is now getting wonderful standing ovations on the critic board. Why? Because Will is their nemesis.

Another misinterpretation, among many.

And that was my point too. But how can David understand what exactly Will goes through on the critic board?
