Doctrinal Clarification Needed

I guess if we really followed the scriptures, we should be putting most Aaronic Priesthood holders to death.

No cause the punishments of the law of Moses were fulfilled with the atonement, but if flat out lying about the Gospel is your style, then cool.

Removal of the priesthood doesn't equal breaking of the oath and covenant of the priesthood in every situation, this why the First Presidency decides if someone can be re-baptized or re-ordained into the priesthood, they have to seek the will of the Lord and take case by case to see if the Oath and Covenant of the Priesthood was broken.

Of course if you think life is a one size fits all when it comes to excommunication then you probably failed to think of it in this manner.

No, being an excommunicated member, I know that it's not one size fits all. I was just wondering if you did.

I do not know of anyone who fits your limited and exteme criteria.

That's fine this is the opinion of my Stake President, not the revelations of God, I agree with him, but this is opinions of leaders, not doctrine.

If your Stake President is truly teaching not honoring your priesthood covenants is worse than mass genocide, then he should be released immediately and perhaps seek psychological treatment.

Can you tell me what stake you reside in?

I might have to contact your SP.

Too bad the example he gives pre-dates the Law of Moses.

But that doesn't stop you from making a completely unnecessary and completely false remark about SilverKnight's integrity.

To murder is to break the covenant of the priesthood, so if this has happened than the Church has abandoned the word of God, it is fallen and I am wrong (well my Stake President and I are both wrong).

Man, you just moved the goalposts out into the parking lot. In fact, they're still on the truck and heading down the interstate!!

I see that is listed under your avatar. I asked you a question I assumed you were trying to be funny with your response. Hence the "LoL" at the end of my response.

I am starting to think you were not glued to ABC on Friday nights during the fall of 1974 . . .

No, this is part of LDS doctrine for any member to commit murder (priesthood holder or not) is an unforgivable sin.

Of course the tone of the comment implies you don't care about the facts just how you can make them sound bad.

I'm willing to bet you haven't read Bushman's work. Otherwise, you'd understand why this comment of yours is just absurd.

Once again, Boyd K Packer disagrees with you:

I repeat, save for the exception of the very few who defect to perdition, there is no habit, no addiction, no rebellion, no transgression, no apostasy, no crime exempted from the promise of complete forgiveness. That is the promise of the atonement of Christ.

So if murder is forgivable, would it not stand to reason that not doing your Home Teaching is forgivable, and probably less serious than mass murder?

That is not exactly correct.

Even the murder can recieve forgiveness, just not in this life. He/she will not know if they are forgiven until the final judgement when they stand before God.

Do you read the comments, I assume no because he clearly made reference to modern Aaronic priesthood holders not ancient ones!

He said "I guess we should be putting most Aaronic Priesthood holders to death"

Since modern Aaronic Priesthood holders came after the atonement they are not to be punished under the Laws of Moses because those law punishments are fulfilled by Christ.

So he is intentionally lying about the Gospel, when he made such a statement, it is ever more "repugnant" (as you like to say) seeing that he apparently knowingly lied about the Gospel (unless he is one of the few members who were taught about the Law of Moses) because he wants to be right in a discussion.

Lying about the Gospel to twist a discussion in your favor is not cool to me, but to each there own.

I am still hoping I don't have to be the one to tell Mola Mola my avatar is not Captain Kirk . . .

Yeah, I was like, "Whaaaat? That t'aint Cap'n Kirk!"

My MDDB reputation is tarnished forever. Thanks a lot. :-P

Charlie Sheen was once mentioned in the same list as me, and look what happened there.

My sincere condolences, WalkerW.

You are wrong, D&C 42:18 "And now, behold, I speak unto the church. Thou shalt not kill; and he that kills shall not have forgiveness in this world, nor in the world to come."

Even the modern prophets mention constantly mention that murder is an unforgivable sin, and a previous poster has a quote from a GA stating that very thing.

Wow, you do know that only the President of the Church not the President of the Quorum of the Twelve can change doctrine right?

If not you are now informed, President Packer can only offer his opinion on the subject he cannot make changes to the doctrine of the Church and you should know that!

Actually, no he wasn't. He was making fun of you.

Too bad he didn't.

You realize that when you call one of the Consiglieri Seven a liar, you call all of us liars?

(This is not going to be pretty.)

Too bad he didn't.

Yes, he did if you read the post, he used a verse from the OT that said they killed people who committed sexual sin.

He then said I guess we should kill most of the Aaronic Priesthood holder (talking about modern young men)

This is lying about the Gospel because we all know Christ fulfilled the old penalties of the Law of Moses, so current Aaronic Priesthood holders cannot or would they be killed for sexual immorality, like he said they should be.

But if you rather not read what was said and instead derail the topic there is nothing I can do about it.

So I will not digress any further on this matter.
