I wonder who these"Mormons" were who the poll measured because onlyl 91% of them (us?) knew the Joseph Smith's religion was "Mormonism".

I really believe someone made an error here, but who that was is an open question.

Oh, I got all 15; and it seems I'm not the only one who's a history buff.

I got 13/15. I was shocked to see that 7% percent of the Mormons polled didn't know what religion Joseph Smith belonged to, and that a whole lot of Jews didn't know that Moses led the Exodus.

Take this site as an example of my point, most people on here are well read. Many choose to stay LDS, many leave and become agnostic, atheist, or something similar. Looking at the same evidence, can lead people to different conclusions. For me, it was studying other religions in depth and mormon history that lead to my resignation.

Mormons like to read... but we gain our testimony through spiritual experiences, rather than through books...

I like how you speak inclusively for all mormons spiritual experiences. Maybe you should read a book or two about spiritual experiences and how you are experiencing nothing unique in Mormonism. Books can help shed light on spiritual experiences. I would never try to gain a spiritual experience through reading.....wait isn't that what scriptures are for?

It is not a doctrine of the LDS church that only Mormons have spiritual experiences. Indeed, we believe that the Light of Christ enlightens every person, and they are spiritually connected to Heavenly Father. But, of course, some have completely disconnected themselves from spiritual matters.

I received 15 out of 15. That was pretty easy for anyone who has taken any interest in religion. A lot of people aren't that concerned about it.

The sample quiz didn't require you to know much of anything about Christianity beyond some basic items. It wasn't a Christian theology quiz. It just tested some basic religious knowledge relevant to the US. It's more recognizing that Ramadan is associated with Islam and that teachers leading students in prayer has been ruled unconstitutional. What did evangelicals in probably was their relatively low levels of education and tendency to be insular about other people's beliefs. Just a guess.

Please. There is only a handful of questions that are relevant to Christianity.

Edit: Taking a closer look, the following should be an embarrassment to (White) Evangelicals:

Martin Luther question: 52 vs. 61

Job: 58 vs. 70

Sabbath: 47 vs. 55

Commandment: 67 vs. 81

Exodus: 80 vs. 92

Mormons scored higher on all of those questions. That is not a feather in the cap of Mormonism, since they are easy questions but it should serve as a wake up call to (White) Evangelicals when the followers of Joseph Smith are better informed on such basic topics.

Which shows that such people are very ignorant and perhaps prejudiced from their ignorance, and have no right to claim that they "know" about our beliefs.
