Tsuzuki Posted May 1, 2009 Author Posted May 1, 2009 Perhaps we can thank God JFuller ain't a Bishop. He'd be a very busy one, at that, weeding out all those evilthinkers! He'd be a very short-lived one, as soon as word of his zeal got to Salt Lake.
mfbukowski Posted May 1, 2009 Posted May 1, 2009 I agree completely. I have NEVER known of anyone who had been disciplined by the church in any way for a belief--only an action. Joseph Smith explained the following in general conference on April 8, 1843: "I never thought it was right to call up a man and try him because he erred in doctrine. . . . I want the liberty of believing as I please, it feels so good not to be trammelled. It don't prove that a man is not a good man because he errs in doctrine."If Joseph Smith doesn't qualify as a "GA", I don't know who does.I never said anyone would be ex'd for a belief. Teaching errors or joining another church is a different matter. Tsuzuki has claimed to be both Catholic and Mormon at the same time, on other forums
Tsuzuki Posted May 1, 2009 Author Posted May 1, 2009 Tsuzuki has claimed to be both Catholic and Mormon at the same time, on other forumsDon't forget about my occult activities.
JLFuller Posted May 2, 2009 Posted May 2, 2009 :rofl:Can someone be disciplined for being weird?Only if they were formerly Catholic or Democrat. We highly stable DNA Mormon Republican's are so highly stable and well grounded it never happens - weirdness that is. He'd be a very short-lived one, as soon as word of his zeal got to Salt Lake.I resemble that remark and I am telling the prophet just what you said. Joseph is going to get you for that.
katherine the great Posted May 2, 2009 Posted May 2, 2009 Perhaps we can thank God JFuller ain't a Bishop. He'd be a very busy one, at that, weeding out all those evilthinkers! When he isn't busy arresting and deporting prospective missionaries who had the misfortune of being brought into the country illegally.

JLFuller Posted May 2, 2009 Posted May 2, 2009 I feel sorry for you.Thanks. Send money.I personally like the extra possessive there.I wonder if DNA Republican Mormon's (possessive) are awesome?I said I attended two universities. I never said I learned anything.
mfbukowski Posted May 2, 2009 Posted May 2, 2009 Ok I would normally never do this, but in my judgement it is necessary to combat false doctrine being advocated hereGeneral Handbook of Instructions, Book 1, 2006, excerpted from page 110When a Disciplinary Council is Mandatory A disciplinary council must be held when evidence suggests that a member may have committed any of the following transgressions.....Apostasy As used here apostasy refers to members who: 1- Repeatedly act in clear, open, and deliberate public opposition to the Church or its leaders 2- Persist in teaching as Church doctrine information that is not Church doctrine after they have been corrected by their bishop or a higher authority 3- Continue to follow the teachings of apostate sects ....after being corrected by their bishop or a higher authority. 4- Formally join another church In such cases, excommunication may be necessary if repentance is not evident after counseling and encouragement. Priesthood leaders must take disciplinary action against apostates to protect Church members. The Savior taught the Nephites that they should continue to minister to a transgressor, "but if he repent not he shall not be numbered among my people, that he may not destroy my people" (3Nephi 18:31; see also Mosiah 26:36).Now you know what it says, and if you don't believe the quote is accurate, ask someone who has the handbook, like your bishop.

We are talking about heresy, not apostasy.
Mike Reed Posted May 2, 2009 Posted May 2, 2009 Perhaps we can thank God JFuller ain't a Bishop. He'd be a very busy one, at that, weeding out all those evilthinkers! Here here!
mfbukowski Posted May 2, 2009 Posted May 2, 2009 What is the false doctrine? We are talking about heresy, not apostasy.I am not his judge. I was suggesting there was a problem with posts 41 and 42 and the idea that formally joining another church would be viewed as apostasy. I have no idea if he has done this or not, and it is really not my business. I was merely giving out the information that yes, one can be excommunicated for apostasy if one has formally joined another church, or persistently holds views of "apostate sects" after being instructed by one's bishopI like Tsuzuki but I think he did not understand that he was definitely getting into areas which were disciplinable. What he does with that information is up to him-- but I didn't want others here to agree there were no standards at all.

mfbukowski Posted May 2, 2009 Posted May 2, 2009 Is there a grandfather clause for those who joined another church based on the previous CHI, which mentioned specifically that joining another church did not count as apostasy? It's all between you and your bishop.
JLFuller Posted May 2, 2009 Posted May 2, 2009 Here here! You would be the second one to go. Is summary execution allowed? I know, I will call the Danites. They know all this stuff.
JLFuller Posted May 2, 2009 Posted May 2, 2009 When he isn't busy arresting and deporting prospective missionaries who had the misfortune of being brought into the country illegally.Have you turned Democrat?Indeed.Don't forget the SP.
mfbukowski Posted May 2, 2009 Posted May 2, 2009 Don't forget the SP.HmmmmmmOh by the way Tsuzuki, what stake did you say you were in?
Tsuzuki Posted May 3, 2009 Author Posted May 3, 2009 HmmmmmmOh by the way Tsuzuki, what stake did you say you were in? Careful there, questions like this could get you banned, which in these parts is worse than excommunication.
annewandering Posted May 12, 2009 Posted May 12, 2009 Anyone can believe as they like. Its called free agency. Since when does the LDS church not have official doctrine? We believe in truth no matter where it is found. Doesnt mean we believe a group that has a truth has all the truth.
annewandering Posted May 12, 2009 Posted May 12, 2009 Note the 'convert from''. He is no longer a member of the catholic church.
annewandering Posted May 12, 2009 Posted May 12, 2009 dont stop there. copy the rest if you want to be anything near accurate. There is some really weird stuff going on here. I mean this is REALLY weird. Apostasy type stuff.I agree.Perhaps we can thank God JFuller ain't a Bishop. He'd be a very busy one, at that, weeding out all those evilthinkers!Posting on a forum and trying to convince others of the evil thinking isnt exactly innocent.
annewandering Posted May 12, 2009 Posted May 12, 2009 What is the false doctrine? We are talking about heresy, not apostasy.Kindly clear up the difference for me? Thanks in advance.
HiJolly Posted May 12, 2009 Posted May 12, 2009 There is some really weird stuff going on here. I mean this is REALLY weird. Apostasy type stuff.Totally disagree. Heresy is something the Catholics punish for, not the Mormons. I'm firmly in the camp of Tsuzuki, LoaP and (gulp) Mr. Reed. And, Bro. Fuller, I may not have been a member for 50 years, but its mighty, mighty close. In our stake membership in another religion is not actionable, unless it is some apostate branch-off from the LDS. HiJolly
