KSL carried this story yesterday:

Religious podcaster dies in Lehi multi-vehicle crash

"Chandler David Hendry, 27, was the sole victim of a three-vehicle crash that happened at 8:25 a.m., Lehi police spokesperson Jeanteil Livingston said. The crash happened at the intersection of Timpanogos Highway and Morning Vista road."

"Hendry was the founder of the Restored Truth podcast, which explores interfaith dialog, scripture, Christian history and the restoration of the gospel of Jesus Christ, according to a Restored Truth YouTube video."

This is his YouTube channel:   https://www.youtube.com/@RESTORED_TRUTH/shorts

And the community section is mourning his loss:   https://www.youtube.com/@RESTORED_TRUTH/community

This is sad news.

You know know a man let his light so shine for all when the world seems darker now without him in it. I don't feel bad for him, I'm sure he's fine, but I feel bad for those of us left behind.

It’s sad that the death was so senseless. A stupid driving mistake and then him making a stupid choice not to wear his seatbelt. Such a blessing that the people that he hit weren’t more seriously impacted.

It’s a huge loss for his family and loved ones

He was apparently driving to attend the FAIR Conference when the accident occurred. FAIR released the following:

Quote

FAIR is deeply saddened by the tragic passing of Chandler “Chuck” Hendry, host of Restored Truth.

Chandler joined us at the FAIR Conference this past week, and on Thursday we had the privilege of spending time with him as he met with FAIR and fellow podcasters. His unexpected passing the following morning, as he returned to the FAIR conference, has left us shocked and heartbroken.

Chandler was a passionate defender of the restored gospel of Jesus Christ. Through Restored Truth and his other efforts, he willingly entered difficult conversations, answered challenging questions, and sought to strengthen faith in Jesus Christ and His restored Church. We are grateful for his voice, his courage, and the contribution he made to the Latter-day Saint community.

Our hearts and prayers are especially with Chandler’s family and friends, as well as the many people who came to know and appreciate him through Restored Truth. We mourn with all who loved him and pray that they will feel the peace and comfort of the Savior during this time of profound loss.

We are grateful that Chandler chose to spend some of his final days among friends and fellow believers at the FAIR Conference. We will remember him with gratitude and affection.

I was wondering about that.  Thanks for posting that.

It makes me wonder if there was a medical issue or some other major distraction.  The seatbelt choice was dumb which didn't help, but zooming right through a red light?  I know it can happen, but it seems odd to me for someone that young.

I don’t know where you live, but in Utah it’s actually pretty common.  People push the timing of the yellow light way too long and end up going through when it’s already red.  But, there could’ve been a medical emergency.

I went to IG and checked out some of his posts. He has several posted of him driving while recording and not wearing his seat belt. A lesson to us all about distracted driving.

I’m just glad he didn’t kill anyone by blowing a red light. Seems like he was a pretty good guy and fairly popular although I had never heard of him. RIP

I was not aware of his name, and when it was reported I was like "Who?" It wasn't until I found out that he was behind the YouTube channel "RestoredTruth" that I made the connection.

Not being a big IG user, I only know him from his YouTube channel, where he would post livestream debates with people about the Church.

Same here.  I had to look up the RestoredTruth channel to learn who he was, and I recognized him instantly once I did that.

I live in Utah now (I used to live in Arizona), and one thing that keeps popping up on my YouTube feed suggestion is the Utah "Collision Cam" channel.  It's really scary to watch it.  They have monthly compilations.  Distracted driving is a serious issue, not just in Utah.  But I think the road designs lend to more serious crashes because of speed and visibility and odd intersection configurations.
