Elder Gérald Caussé called to Quorum of the Twelve Apostles

SALT LAKE CITY — Elder Gérald Caussé, currently the Presiding Bishop of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, has been called to serve as the newest member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles.

Elder Caussé was called on Thursday and set apart by President Dallin H. Oaks, president of the church, and other members of the First Presidency and the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles.

“I’ve always had a testimony of Jesus Christ,” Elder Caussé said Thursday. “He’s always been in the center of my life. I know Jesus Christ lives. And I know He’s our Savior and Redeemer. What a wonderful thing it is to be a witness of Christ. That’s the best responsibility or stewardship we might have in our lives.”

A French Apostle?! I knew the Church was getting more global, but I didn't realize we were going straight to the international surrender flag jokes this fast. But maybe he'll help change the sacrament water back into wine.

I knew the Church was getting more global . . .

With Elder Dieter F. Uchtdorf coming from a German heritage and Elder Ulisses Soares having been born in São Paulo, Brazil and Elder Patrick Kearon of the UK, we can anticipate more to be called from around the world. Maybe Africa? India?

I don't see any reason why a French apostle would be Caussé for alarm.

Painful….

Looking forward to it.
