Fundraisers for Michigan LDS victims

Went looking for the links today for the LDS victims and took me a bit to find them (been waiting to donate until I talk with my husband about how much, but keep getting distracted when I do see him), so reposting them here for my ease and everyone else’s easy access.  These were originally posted by bsjjki.

To be open, I am a bit surprised these aren’t equaling and surpassing the shooter’s family fundraiser.

I am wondering if that is because the LDS victims are seen more as as one entity, so focus is getting split among several rather than one specific effort.  It also may be because they aren’t raising the goal once it gets surpassed, so perhaps people assume the need isn’t as great.

Please post other confirmed for real links to fundraisers for LDS victims (I can’t fathom why I have to remind people that there those who start fundraisers that look like they are for others, but they pocket the money themselves).

This is one that was in the article:

Can someone else go in and pull out the rest and post because I apparently got my free page limit with the Detroit News.

Looks like changing tech is going to let me do some more:

This is completely cynical of me, but I wonder if members are becoming more focused on showing off how Christlike and forgiving we are than helping pay medical bills.

I don’t think it started out like that, but I worry that’s where it’s going.

Being that I haven’t donated to  anybody related to this tragedy, I’m not sure that I can contribute to the conversation, but I will say it sure would be a pretty good Hollywood ending if the family donated to a victim.

Some of that is in play.  This fundraiser is getting some of the most positive press I've ever seen - about anything. It's a whole other level of alluring.

Ultimately, I will be okay with this.  If only because for one moment, something is capturing American's attention but isn't advancing historical harm and cruelty.

It is because the fund set up for the shooters family is newsworthy. It is getting tons of press. It was done in good faith and good will and has been highlighted on major news sources. Eyeballs get clicks and more donations. It is sad to say the victims go fund me's have not gotten as much press. I have been linking to the other victims on the news posts highlighting the other go fund me. It really is a case of 'man bites dog' instead of 'dog bites man.' In some ways, this could actually drive more people to the victim funds than otherwise would have seen them too.

Any additional funds will be donated to their church, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Grand Blanc, Michigan.

I am speculating the residents asked for a limit to be put on the donations when they could have just accepted it all.   I find that admirable.  I wonder if they have hefty student loans to pay off.
