This thread is about David Archuleta, who told the world "directly" about his sexual identity. The whole "Coming Out" thing is an announcement of one's sexual identity. Social media is awash with express declarations of sexual identity. We just started Pride Month. Month. And someone can demonstrate their "sexual identity" via means other than words, such as expressive conduct, clothing and regalia, activities. Thanks, -Smac He also went on an LDS mission and is a public figure. If all the sudden he started going w/o his "g's", and dating men then what might have happened? A lot of condemnation and this way he has control of the narrative. Edited June 7, 2024 by Tacenda 3

Yes, it is often a harrowing time. Even if you think those you are telling will be supportive. Maybe others don’t see announcing they are gay or bisexual as anymore announcing who you have sex with than is a marriage or baby announcement. Coming Out parties aren’t about announcing who you have sex with, it’s usually the celebration of being able to take the mask off after trying to be seen as someone that you are not. It’s like having a celebration for getting out of jail after being thrown in it even though you were innocent of any wrong doing and possibly self incarcerated. Being closeted is EXHAUSTING!!!!!! You have usually been watching what you say and do for months, years, or decades. A lot of self-loathing and fear. This comic sums up some of that: https://allosaurusfragilis.tumblr.com/post/176976406631 5
