Course materials will be published under “Institute” in the“Books and Lessons”section of the Gospel Library.Young adults will receive messages directly from the Church inviting them to find out more about the course from local institute programs. Priesthood leaders andSeminary and Institute representatives should work together to determine and planfor opportunities the course may provide to young adults. The course relies on principles and patterns that can help young adults navigatetheir search for answers and provides a setting of faith for students to: Ask gospel questions. Practice finding reliable information. Learn how to use the scriptures, general conference talks, Gospel Topics, LifeHelp, the Church Newsroom, and other trusted sources. Discuss their learning with each other. Choose topics they would like to study and discuss for a portion of the course. Develop skills to help them as they ask about, study, and discuss these topics.ose who teach the course do not need to be experts on history, doctrine, orChurch policies. Rather, they need to be willing to learn with their students byapplying the patterns and principles outlined in the course. Those who teach thecourse should be encouraged to study the materials carefully along with the quick-start guide that will accompany it. https://www.churchofjesuschrist.org/letters/letter?id=94da413a-5f66-49f0-9fed-74144c98fd6f&letterlang=eng&lang=eng Edited July 13, 2022 by Calm 5
JustAnAustralian Posted July 13, 2022 Posted July 13, 2022 This looks like a course that could be wonderful if they have a great teacher, or terrible if the teacher doesn't grasp the point of it. 4

Yeah, there's a pretty big risk there. If it were possible I'd want the Book of Mormon Central or FAIR or Mormonr people to give seminars on "the point" and why it matters before the CES instructors take the field. 1

This. And also: Practice finding reliable information. Learn how to use the scriptures, general conference talks, Gospel Topics, LifeHelp, the Church Newsroom, and other trusted sources. I can see this going one of two ways The instructor who limits students to Church official publications, thus limiting their ability to actually research the question. There are a LOT of questions that simply can't be answered from official Church materials. Although since the Joseph Smith Papers came out that number has reduced. The instructor that doesn't limit students to Church official publications and helps students to locate answers from very questionable sources (aka, the internet). 3
