Netflix FLDS documentary

So a friend has watched it and says there is very little mention of the Church in the series, maybe once iirc to point out there was no current ties between the organizations, that it was a split off almost a hundred years ago.  4 episodes.

One review reports it is very disturbing according to viewers’ responses (but I suspect every true crime drama or documentary gets stuff like this so unless one is comparing them statistically, the title of worst is open for personal judgment imo).

And of course, some jump to condemning all religion based on this one group’s behaviour while ignoring it is often religious groups that help rescue individuals from abusive situations.

A good article for background it looks like, (I have to skim stuff at the moment):

So did it start in 1890 or 1930s?  I was under the impression this group was 1930s, but the SPLC has it listed as 1890 on its hate group page

I am seeing this being discussed on the strangest websites, like a sports news page. This is the weirdest one so far:

Is it a slow news time?

The revelation that almost all of the polygamist groups for authority is dated 1886 (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1886_Revelation).  The Council of Friends (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Council_of_Friends_(Woolley)) didn't get started until the 1920s.

So, you could say that it really started in the 1920s but they trace back their start to 1886.

That is in line with what I remembers.  Thank you.

This netflix documentary has a lot of repeated things along with a couple of new true stories. It was difficult for me to listen when they played the tapes of Warren Jeffs abusing little girls. I wouldn't listen, too difficult, and I wonder why the women that were in the room where it happened didn't get prosecuted for something. Like accessory to a crime or something, I don't care if they're brainwashed or not.

It was hard to listen to but very short. I heard more on the news.

I noticed that the rating warning said there was nudity but I didn’t see any (and couldn’t imagine when that would even make sense for the series). Did I miss something?

I believe the nudity they must be talking about is in the tape with Warren and the girls.
