Kenngo1969 Posted April 30, 2022 Posted April 30, 2022 I admit, freely, that what I know about the Second Coming and the gathering of Israel can fit into a thimble—and a very small thimble, at that—which is one of the reasons I started this thread. The Gathering of Israel (on both sides of the veil) has been a major theme of President Nelson’s presidency. Regarding records kept by various branches of the House of Israel, in the Book of Mormon, the Lord has this to say: Quote 2 Nephi 29 12 For behold, I shall speak unto the Jews and they shall write it; and I shall also speak unto the Nephites and they shall write it; and I shall also speak unto the other tribes of the house of Israel, which I have led away, and they shall write it; and I shall also speak unto all nations of the earth and they shall write it. 13 And it shall come to pass that the Jews shall have the words of the Nephites, and the Nephites shall have the words of the Jews; and the Nephites and the Jews shall have the words of the lost tribes of Israel; and the lost tribes of Israel shall have the words of the Nephites and the Jews. 14 And it shall come to pass that my people, which are of the house of Israel, shall be gathered home unto the lands of their possessions; and my word also shall be gathered in one. And I will show unto them that fight against my word and against my people, who are of the house of Israel, that I am God, and that I covenanted with Abraham that I would remember his seed forever. In addition to Christ’s visit to the Nephites, the Book of Mormon has some interesting things to say about where else Christ went after His Resurrection. Consider what Christ told the Nephites as He prepared to leave before they asked him to stay: Quote 3 Nephi 17 3 Therefore, go ye unto your homes, and ponder upon the things which I have said, and ask of the Father, in my name, that ye may understand, and prepare your minds for the morrow, and I come unto you again. 4 But now I ago unto the Father, and also to show myself unto the lost tribes of Israel, for they are not lost unto the Father, for he knoweth whither he hath taken them. And the Doctrine and Covenants has a spectacular prophecy about the return of the Lost Ten Tribes “from the north”: Quote Doctrine and Covenants 133 26 And they who are in the north countries shall come in remembrance before the Lord; and their prophets shall hear his voice, and shall no longer stay themselves; and they shall smite the rocks, and the ice shall flow down at their presence. 27 And an highway shall be cast up in the midst of the great deep. 28 Their enemies shall become a prey unto them, 29 And in the barren deserts there shall come forth pools of living water; and the parched ground shall no longer be a thirsty land. 30 And they shall bring forth their rich treasures unto the children of Ephraim, my servants. 31 And the boundaries of the everlasting hills shall tremble at their presence. 32 And there shall they fall down and be crowned with glory, even in Zion, by the hands of the servants of the Lord, even the children of Ephraim. 33 And they shall be filled with songs of everlasting joy. So, are we gathering Israel now, through our missionary efforts and through service performing temple ordinances, or is “lost Israel” to return in one body the spectacular fashion described above? My answer? Yes! strappinglad Posted April 30, 2022 Posted April 30, 2022 I vaguely remember a documentary that showed remnants of many of the lost tribes found from Asia through to the Mediterranean . If ice is going to flow down at their presence there will be more global warming yet to come. That said, I'm from Canada, Global Warming ... bring it on !! 1

We Latter-day Saints have some news for you! ................. Latter-day Saints are preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ and gathering spiritual Israel into worldwide congregations. The final gathering of the Jews and of any other of the scattered tribes is not dependent upon anything the Latter-day Saints have done -- except for Joseph having Orson Hyde go to the Holy Land and dedicate it to the final gathering of the Jews (1841). The Jews are in charge of that project and have their own active priesthood. They will build their temple again, and then the apocalyptic end will come. As pointed out in Zechariah and in the D&C, only then will the Jews realize who Jesus actually was. Where are the Ten Tribes? Wherever they are, they need not be large in number. 1

There are dozens of us already! Dozens! ------- This is an interesting anecdote, but an anecdote nonetheless. I did my undergrad in Toronto, which is probably one of the most multicultural cities in the world, up there with NYC. Something like 50% of the population was born outside Canada, and when you take 2nd generation, most of the people there have very recent histories in Canada. The Church membership there reflected this diversity. Going off memory, we had wards or branches available in 12 different languages or so, including some expected ones like Mandarin, Cantonese, French, Spanish, and Portuguese, but also a Farsi branch, Creole, and Hindi. In fact, I would say Indians were probably one of the fastest growing demographics in the Church while I was there. One interesting anecdote from that growth is that I never met an Indian member from the Tribe of Ephraim. I'm sure they exist, but everyone I met from India was either from Naphtali, Isaachar, Zebulon, or, to a lesser extent, Dan. 4
