That's why some of the fundamentalist Mormons say that the woman has to initiate the courtship.

I also have a relative (long dead) where the first wife did all of the courtship.  The husband and wife decided they needed to enter into polygamy and she picked the second wife and began the courtship.  I also have another relative where the woman told her bishop that she had a vision that she needed to marry an already married man (this is pre-1890).  When the married man learned of it, he told his wife that he didn't want to be polygamist and would say no to the woman.  His wife reprimanded him and he did marry her.

In both of those cases, you can't call the man adulterous since he didn't initiate it.  It was all done by the women.  Are they adulterous?

Oh, the interesting things we learn when we do family history, hey?! ;):D

Okay, I thought I made this point when the thread was first started, but I have read [skimmed] the whole thing and I can't find it, so here it is.  No, there won't be any [need for] divorce in the Celestial Kingdom.  Every ordinance must be Sealed by the Holy Spirit of Promise in order to be valid for eternity.  If an ordinance is not sealed by the Holy Spirit of Promise, it will not be valid for eternity.

For what it's worth.

(Hello, @Kevin Christensen. ;)  I know you've copyrighted that phrase, so I can't use it without paying you: How much do I owe you? :D)

Well I am fairly new to this marriage idea, having only been happily married for 42 years, but anyone with sense would be able to figure out that a celestial marriage is a pledge to each other to COMMIT to work out the defects which beset other marriages, no matter what.

It is a commitment to God AND each other to be Christlike in loving peace at all times when things get hard.

Now imagine aiming for the CK with that attitude.

It's the only way such a goal could be achieved!

BUT if one does make it to the CK, that means the pair WERE able to love humanity - just one member at least- their spouse - to the point that Jehovah loved ALL of us.

If you can't even do that for ONE person, you don't qualify to be BE in the CK.  You are just not going to make it.

But the question asks if you can make it that far and THEN want a divorce?

You wouldn't be able to be there in the first place to get a divorce while IN the CK

It's just an absurd idea.

It's like asking if one can do a marathon without being able the hundred yard dash.

Makes no sense!
