Esrom Posted October 25, 2021 Posted October 25, 2021 I think another factor, which I don't believe has been mentioned, is at that time, won't everyone have memory restored of the pre-mortal life, the veil being removed? If so, that restored perspective along with the mortal experience, will likely inspire the humility and submission for every knee to bow and tongue confess.

Or drive you stark screaming insane as you try to deal with the contradictions and coexisting mutually exclusive paradigms.
Esrom Posted October 27, 2021 Posted October 27, 2021 Really? Even if you suddenly remembered who Jesus was before, what your goals had been for mortality, what was thrown away, missed opportunities, etc.? I rather see it as the ultimate aha experience. 1

You are much more optimistic than I am. Almost every powerful realization and paradigm re-aligning moment I have experienced was either wrought directly by or resulted in pain. I hope you are right and the rules change. 1

You should watch Defending Your Life with Meryl Streep & Albert Brooks. : )
Islander Posted November 15, 2021 Posted November 15, 2021 I suggest that "unconditional" is not the proper adjective in this particular case. It would be like applying "tall" to a river. It doesn't quite "fit" as a good descriptor. The love of God is "universal" in the sense that He loves His creation and extends to all equally in general. "...for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust. Matt 5:45. God allows the wicked to prosper, amass power and even oppress His people. Would you call that a blessing? Under God's blue heaven men, sinful men, wicked men achieve and arrive at the highest levels of human endevour without a though or regard for the God of Heaven. They are, however, enemies to God, mockers of the faith and blasphemers of the One True God. The love of God for them is the love of warning of the wrath to come. It is the love of pity for wasted value as the Savior would look upon Jerusalem before being destroyed: "O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, which killest the prophets, and stonest them that are sent unto thee; how often would I have gathered thy children together, as a hen doth gather her brood under her wings, and ye would not!" Luke 13:34 The love of God spurned turn to hate: "The Lord tests the righteous, but his soul hates the wicked and the one who loves violence." Ps 11:5. "The boastful shall not stand before your eyes; you hate all evildoers." Ps 5:5. "There are six things that the Lord hates, seven that are an abomination to him: a proud look, a lying tongue, hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked schemes, feet that are quick to rush into evil," Prov. 6:16-18 Beyond that, the Love of God for His own is special, profound and eternal. For those that know and believe in Him (in the intimate sense described in scripture) He gave His Only Begotten Son. "Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not". 1 John 3:1. "Now before the feast of the passover, when Jesus knew that his hour was come that he should depart out of this world unto the Father, having loved his own which were in the world, he loved them unto the end [Greek: to the max, to the limit]." John 13:1 . "For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord." Rom 8:38-39 Those that do not "know" Him and have not entered into a Covenant with Him do not enjoy the love and the promises associated with His unfailing love as those that belong to Him. Therefore, I submit that as a qualifier, "unconditional" is rather a poor choice of words and rather obscures the true meaning, extent and depth of the Love of God.
