Not too long ago I would have seen this as an answer to our collective prayers for deliverance from the drought. I now recognize that we're in a drought and that every single year we get these monsoonal rain patterns where rains move up from the south in this same manner year over year pattern. Every year at the end of July early August we get these rains. It was a welcome relief but nothing miraculous or unexpected and had nothing, in my mind, to do with prayer. Perhaps not, but I'd still thank God. YMMV 1

Interesting that you mention Paul H. Dunn. I hadn't realized that his name had permeated the popular culture until earlier this year. In fact, I just learned that the Dunning-Krueger effect refers to people who lie about having had bit parts in a Nightmare on Elmstreet.
