I would hope if there was a medical record of the issues that the Church would not allow redeployment, not without a clean bill of mental health from a medical professional.

I would hope so too, but with indications to the contrary, what could one do??

Short of ensuring the appropriate leaders are aware, if it's not your family I'm not sure what else you could do.

Advice needed on a hypothetical situation. Suppose a missionary attempted to take their own life on the mission. They return home but family is insisting they will be back in the field a couple weeks later. Missionary openly admits to the attempts, family denies it.

Family is known to apply extreme pressure in the past.

Beyond offering support to the family and the missionary, what can be done to ensure the church understands the situation and help the missionary be safe?

Probably not much is needed to be done. If the missionary actually attempted suicide on the mission, that kid is done.

The parents (or whoever else) in the family can "insist" on whatever they like, but it sounds like they are just in denial.

That's what I would hope and expect. But other reports can be concerning.

Do you think calling the MP could help? Or even the FP?

I thought this was a hypothetical. Where are you getting these other reports from, Alex Jones ??

Just looking for possible options.

Unless the reports are coming from the missionary's health care provider, his (or her) Bishop / Stake President, and/or the mission department then those reports can be ignored.

The problem, of course, is that none of the people who really know anything are going to be talking to anyone, so there's nothing to counter whatever is being said by the family members.

The former is not necessary and the latter is overboard. The Bishop / Stake President level is as high up the chain as you need to go.

And, honestly, anything you are going to pass along is probably not actually going to be news to the Bishop / SP, but that shouldn't prevent you from speaking to one/both of them if it's something that is a genuine concern.
