Bill “Papa” Lee Posted April 4, 2020 Posted April 4, 2020 Even early on today, family and friends have posted what they are hoping for, and speculating of what they might receive. A few have even expressed their disappointment that the Prophet did not announce the end of the world. Some of you may think “this cannot be”, but we have the texts to prove it. For weeks members (friends) have been speculating that even more changes will be announced, That even shorter meeting schedules will be announced, or less Sunday meetings as the Church is turning toward an almost exclusive home centered Church. Not “home centered Church”, as in the importance of a “home centered Gospel“, but that the end is indeed coming, and (or) Latter-day Saint worship will not be allowed, or possible. I know that “speculation”, especially concerning concerning General Conference, is a favorite sport, if not the favorite sport, among Latter-day Saints. But are we too fond of it, and as a result, are we setting ourselves up for serious disappointment? Many threads today, are engaged in this very activity, or sport already. It seems like when we were children (an activity I engaged in as a child) where we had our hearts set on one, two, three, etc gifts, and when we did not get it, we were angry and upset. In fact we often rejected in our hearts the gift we received, or harbored deep seeded resentment toward our parents. But doing this as it relates to the Gospel, and resentment toward our Prophet and Apostles, can and often leads to apostasy. I admit it is entertaining to engage in speculation, but anchoring ourselves to much to a wish list, or our speculated topics is dangerous. An example, when President Nelson spoke of big things for the April 2020 General Conference (too paraphrase). As a result on many different discussion boards, members have speculated that this is what he was he was talking about. Only to have President Nelson confess, “when I said this in October General Conference, this was not what I imagined” (again too paraphrase). So, or we going to be content (as a body of membership) with what is announced, or the revelations revealed, or will many be disappointed that they did not receive what they wanted? Anyway, your thoughts...whatever they may be. 3
Stargazer Posted April 5, 2020 Posted April 5, 2020 I will admit that I don't want anything to change. I like how things are going now. I don't want a shorter meeting time. I just want an inspirational General Conference. But maybe they will start calling people on missions from the pulpit like they used to? Wouldn't that be fun?! I have sufficient evidence that this is the Lord's church. I will let the Kindly Light lead me (what the choir is singing right now!). 4

Indeed calling people on missions from the pulpit would be interesting, but not for the faint of heart. Don’t want anyone passing out or passing away in General Conference, 1

The Nehor Posted April 5, 2020 Posted April 5, 2020 I speculate for fun. If someone cannot speculate without real disappointment I think they are doing it wrong and take their thoughts on what the prophet should say way too seriously. 1

I'm disappointed that I am not hearing from you something about what the Prophet actually said: The Solemn Assembly tomorrow, and the worldwide Fast for this Good Friday. The Solemn Assembly is especially interesting as an opportunity for a revelatory experience by the General Membership, if and only if they are spiritually attuned to it. There will be a Hosanna Shout worldwide by the entire membership of the Church. What do you make of that? Does that remind you of anything, other than the usual Hosanna Shout at each temple dedication? Have you considered what happened to the First Presidency and Twelve in June 1978, where all them experienced a revelation? Have you thought about the experience of the Saints in Acts 2 (Pentecost)? Do you really believe in modern revelation, just as in the old days? Edited April 5, 2020 by Robert F. Smith

Do you really believe in modern revelation, just as in the old days? Why are you disappointed at me, I beg your forgiveness for not pointing this out. However it was not my intent to point out everything, or more importantly to suggest or guess of what that meeting might reveal. My thread was meant to to ask the question, “will we be content to ask, will we be content with what we receive, if (whatever it is) does not include our desired wishes or revelations? It is odd that you are disappointed with me at all, as I hope I made clear, I will be content with whatever comes out of that meeting. I mean, come on Robert, “disappointed”, I was not trying to be judgmental, nor speculating of what would happen in any secession,o r the “Solemn Assembly”, as I do not bare the tremendous burden of being the Prophet. But, I will try not to disappoint you in the future, and again I beg your forgiveness. I too, wish I am “Spiritually attuned”, but our Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ standards, since their standard is all that will matter. I am really confused at these remarks, but to answer one of your questions. “I DO believe in “modern revelation, just like the old days”. If I did not, I would have not have been converted to the Gospel, The Book of Mormon, and all contained in the Doctrine and Covenants, and so many other things in my last 41 years of membership. As for June 1978, I rejoice in what occurred, but I was not a member then. WOW Robert, just WOW. *shuffles off scratching head*

No actual reflection on you. You probably need a tougher hide and a more resilient persona. Don't worry so much what others say. It's usually of no importance anyhow -- as with my own intemperate remarks. You'll be just fine if you ignore me. 😎

Being completely inoffensive is probably not really possible in this life. 1
