When my first little son was very small I went to Idaho to visit with my parents on their farm. It was on a very hot summer's day, late afternoon, when my mother, sisters and I decided to go out in the shade of the trees where a cool mountain stream was running by. I spread a quilt on the grass for my baby to play on. Later it became necessary for mother and the girls to go into the house to prepare the evening meal. As the baby was contented and happy with his play I decided to leave him and help in the kitchen.' I had been in the house only a few minutes when an urge came to me to go to my baby. I ran to the window where I could see and hear him. He was still at his play and so I went back to the work I was doing. Again this urge came to me to go to my baby. And the second time I ran to the window to find he was all right. In a very few minuted something prompted me again to go and get my baby. I ran out of the house toward him and to my great horror there was a large rattle snake about two feet from the baby's quilt, coiled and ready to strike. I grabbed my child and gave one loud scream, which brought mother and the girls to my side. We succeeded in killing the snake – a whopper with seven rattles. 6 Link to comment

I love this. I wish that my own grandma had written things down. I tried to get her to do that..but she thought her life was boring...wish she could have wrote you a book! Link to comment
