Atheist Mormon Posted August 6, 2018 Posted August 6, 2018 "Would you be ok with a non-white Jesus?" Huh? I'd be OK with any color of Jesus if He existed at all.
Kenngo1969 Posted August 6, 2018 Posted August 6, 2018 Christ looks the way He looks ... however He looks. My "not being OK" with that (if I weren't "OK with it") wouldn't change how He looks. It would be rather like objecting to the fact that the sun rises in the East and sets in the West in the Northern Hemisphere: What would be the point "not being OK" with it, or with anything else I couldn't change? With respect to their physical characteristics, people are who they are: In that regard, there is plenty I might change about myself, but the prospect of doing so in the short term or in mortal life isn't very good, so why worry about it (though "not worrying about it" is easier said than done some times than it is others)? Omigosh! Omigosh! Seriously? You mean the Lord of the Universe and Savior of the World has ... [Hushed whisper] ... olive skin? Well, gosh. I'm afraid that's a deal breaker! It ain't about how He looks: It's about what He has done, is doing, and will do for you, for me, and for all of humankind.

I always chuckle when I see a Jesus that looks northern European, he was most likely Arabic/olive skinned. Not like it matters, I just wonder how Christians would react if their savior didn't look like them. You need to get around more. In many countries and cultures, Jesus and the Apostles are portrayed in many portraits and Icons as looking like the same people of that culture or race.

It's here that it gets weird. I used to have more (still have a few) racist relatives that insisted Jesus was white. Ohhh boy don't show anything but "Aryan" Jesus to them.
