Missionary blogs---access restricted or not?

I have had a few relatives on missions do blogs, seen others.  I am now wondering if all missionaries now do this rather than sending out letters or does it depend on the mission.  Also are these private or open to the public?

And last, if public, is there a way to easily find a missionary if you don't want to take the time to write family and ask for the URL because that means composing a "here is what is happening to us since we last wrote" email and don't want to do that right now.

I know not all missionaries do it. Most of the ones my daughter's age send email to their parents and they forward either the whole thing or parts of it. We still sent email directly to the missionary, but rarely get one back to us personally.

The ones that i know personally do a group email.

Thanks for the info.  Not everyone feels comfortable putting their writing out there in public, so it makes sense that the Church wouldn't make it a requirement.
