Hi GG 3 - 4 day hops are the average coastal cruise between ports for us, 2- 8 day hops from Florida to Panama, with a stop in Grand Cayman, 26 days from Mexico to the Marquesas Islands, 3- 10 day hops to get anywhere in the South Pacific once you have crossed over to the Marquesas Islands. Our boat covers 100-140 miles per 24 hr day. It takes 3 days to get used to your watch schedule after being at anchor. We like to stay at least 10 days in new places, we spend up to 5 months in one place. We love the tropics but you have to move for hurricane season. We have been in Calif for almost 3 years now, tied to a dock. We came home to take care of parents. I'll have them squared away this month hopfully, if we win in court Dad can go home, if we lose it'll be another year and a half. Our kittens are doing well they are almost old enough to go saiing, They are just over a year old now and have gone in the pond several times each so they are getting a healthy respect for the water. Soon we will do some local sailing, there are many great places to visit within a weeks time from the Delta.

I'm taking school to get my Captain's ticket for OVPU, Operating Unispected Passenger Vessels up to 100 tons with up to 6 paying passengers. Then we may move down to Mexico where I hope to get jobs moving boats back up to Calif and north. Everybody loves sailing down to Mx, nobody wants to do the Baja Bash back north. . I take my test Monday the 23rd, I have to get a 90%  on the Rules of the Road to pass, I'm nervous about it. The other 3 catagories are passable with a 70% and I love navagation and weather problems so no big deal there. We so much appreciate your prayers.

Crude drawing of Jared's barge, I mean really crude but it gets the idea across. The dashed line is the waterline.

My two sisters and their husbands and one other couple (6) are going to the Florida Keys and staying on a Yacht with a captain who will take them to different ports.  It sounds like a riot!  The found it on VRBO.  Maybe you can do something like this Rodheadlee, maybe that was your intent.

Good luck on your test, hope you ace it!  And good luck with your father, hope all goes well!

Rod... Here's hoping, and prayers, that you will do well on your test... your plan sounds good for a sailor like you.  And I, too, say good luck with your father...
