jana at jade house Posted April 8, 2016 Posted April 8, 2016 I recent years it has developed that I cannot wear them overnight for health reasons. It was not a lightly made decision. It makes me sad, but since they stopped making the ones I can sleep in....But I never go downstairs without dressing first. I think the Lord wants and requires me to be healthy. It never occurred to me to talk to my Bishop. Why would a senior citizen want to talk to a 26 year old male about her underwear?? 1
ERMD Posted April 8, 2016 Posted April 8, 2016 (edited) We have guidelines, but it comes down to a personal decision between the individual and the Lord; an outward expression of an inner commitment. Edited April 8, 2016 by ERMD 1
Calm Posted April 8, 2016 Posted April 8, 2016 (edited) My bishop informed me I had no need to ask permission from another leader ever again when it came to decisions driven by health. This included having problems because of waking up feeling I couldn't breathe because of the clinginess of the lightweight fabric. He was a medical doctor which made it very easy totalk to him about it and grateful for his quick understanding and judgment that health, including emotional health, is not a worthiness issue. Being a doctor made serving as a bishop easier than if I had chosen another line of work, I think. Other professions have their advantages too, I'm sure.

However, you won't see any music teachers on the lists of stake presidents, mission presidents, temple presidents, Area or General Authorities, so I suppose there are some greater advantages to being a doctor, a lawyer, or a business executive. I used to sign my financial clerk letters to Salt Lake City using my first initial and middle name .... M. Heber Gui.... hoping someone would take notice and call me to a higher position. It didn't work. Edited April 11, 2016 by Bernard Gui 1
