As a First Presidency Message declared in 1980, "When the Prophet speaks, the debate is over." https://www.lds.org/liahona/1980/06/the-debate-is-over?lang=eng If I thought you were making a good-faith effort to make a point, I would substantively respond. But I don't, so I won't. Thanks, -Smac 1

We started talking about the COC, and then whether or not we're getting direct word for word revelations. So your position is that we don't need that necessarily, yes? But you also agree that we don't get that kind of thing anymore? I'm saying that not only is it not necessary for direct word-for-word revelations, if God's people are righteous, it's actually detrimental. When you were a child, your father began to raise you by giving you specific instructions. Clean your room, take out the trash, brush your teeth, don't forget to wash behind your ears. But as you become older and more responsible, you were expected to do these things on your own and not be told. If we were a righteous people, we wouldn't ask our prophets for those "revelations." We'd just take their counsel. As for the CofC, we're not really meandering as this is a major issue with them. But without being able to grow spiritually, they are still spiritually immature. Quote Regarding priesthood, why do you suppose that the OT prophets held the higher priesthood? And why do you suppose that the female prophets did not, if the male ones did? Most of the OT prophets weren't Levites and couldn't fold the lesser priesthood. Also, the lesser priesthood was never really intended to exist. It was instituted because the children of Israel couldn't handle the higher priesthood. Even Aaron held the Melchizedec priesthood.

It has slowly developed over 37-years of being a Mormon. It's funny how different people are. I've been a Mormon for 29 years (baptized when I was 10) and my confidence in the patriarchy has grown. 😊 2

Thanks, -Smac But you've got to admit that the concept of "follow the prophet even if he's wrong" or "when the prophet speaks the debate is over" has been taught and could easily been seen as discouraging independent thought. This survey is a good example. Support for female ordination increases among members by @ 65% if it proposed by the prophet and apostles. I think it is likely that high percentages like this would be true for just about any subject IF it's proposed by the prophet. That tells me there is a lot of trust in the prophet. That's not necessarily a bad thing, but it doesn't exactly paint a picture for robust discussion or theological struggle. 2
