Smoot On "how To Be A Successful Millennial Ex-Mormon"

Possible I suppose. But I had the impression you don't cop to being mean-spirited or unfair.

I only admit to pretending to be a decent person on this board. Other than that, all bets are off.

The full post shows you distorted. jkwilliams required clarification, because he got a misconception from your distorted quote.

Have you posted here before under a different screen name?

Actually, she seems to have nailed it.

I'm curious if asking about her previous posting is an attempt to cast aspersions at Cynth; poison the well so to speak.

We'll have to leave it to the individual reader to decide for him/herself, I guess. I doubt very many people care about it.

No. I'm curious too. About her identity.

I like to know who I'm dealing with, whether there's a history, etc. Some people do sneak back on the board with a different screen name after having been banned. I've had my suspicions before. Sometimes I've been right, sometimes not. Nothing wrong with asking the question.

I've seen you do this before and at best it seems like a diversionary tactic.

You mean the way you're diverting now by going on and on about it? ;)

It's just a question, not an accusation. The person can answer in the negative, and we'll leave it at that. Or refuse to answer. Or ignore the question. Though either of the latter two courses can be rather telling in and of itself.

Wow, an interesting approach.  a diverting question that certainly feels like an accusation.

Here is your original post again, which I did not distort:

I have long been a fan of good satire and can appreciate a well-done effort even if I disagree with the message it is conveying. It's just that nearly every attempt I've seen by contemporary anti-Mormons is, well, as I said, lame. Maybe it's because they are so inherently mean-spirited and unfair that they can't be subtle.

On the other hand, Mark Twain's treatment of the Book of Mormon in Roughing it, the one where he calls the book "chloroform in print"? It is clever enough that even I chuckle at it.

Your accusation that I distorted is inappropriate.

Here's what I said:

I didn't know you did satire, Scott.  oh, wait, are you referring to when you said, 'Maybe it's because [anti-Mormons] are so inherently mean-spirited and unfair that they can't be subtle'?  Who were you satirizing?

My brackets were accurately used and I did not distort.

So you have no response, then?

As I said, telling.

I disagree.

But as I said, I believe scarcely anyone here cares about it.
