JLHPROF Posted October 3, 2015 Posted October 3, 2015 So the news etc keeps repeating over and over that Elder Renlund is exactly the 100th apostle called in this dispensation. Anyone here have any idea how accurate that statement is? We know there were apostles who were never in the quorum of the twelve. We know there were members of the First Presidency who never held the apostleship. Is he for certain the 100th apostle? Is he for certain the 100th member of the quorum?Anyone have a master list of all the apostles there have been?

JLHPROF Posted October 4, 2015 Author Posted October 4, 2015 https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_members_of_the_Quorum_of_the_Twelve_Apostles_(LDS_Church) Which lists 106 apostles (+ the 3 making 109), also not counting those 9 apostles that were never in the quorum or any others that history didn't record. That article lists 118 men who were ordained as apostles and 106 who were members of the quorum.
Thinking Posted October 4, 2015 Posted October 4, 2015 Well, they forgot to celebrate the real 100th apostle so they anointed Elder Renlund. Besides, who's going to look that up on the internet anyway?
Okrahomer Posted October 4, 2015 Posted October 4, 2015 (edited) Which lists 106 apostles (+ the 3 making 109), also not counting those 9 apostles that were never in the quorum or any others that history didn't record. That article lists 118 men who were ordained as apostles and 106 who were members of the quorum. This website lists members of the Quorum in chronological order and counts just 100 members (including the three sustained Saturday afternoon): http://www.moroni10.com/apostles-chronology.htmlEdit to add: it actally only lists 99. I believe the missing one is J. Reuben Clark who the Wiki article points out was a member of the Quorum for only a few days. Edited October 4, 2015 by Okrahomer
JLHPROF Posted October 4, 2015 Author Posted October 4, 2015 Thank you Okrahomer. I'm not sure I agree with the inclusion/exclusion methods but it's nice to see what list is being used in designating #100.
Buckeye Posted October 4, 2015 Posted October 4, 2015 Isn't there a scripture somewhere saying that the 100th apostle gets some sort of door prize? I bet rasband is jealous. 1
