Spammer Posted March 20, 2015 Posted March 20, 2015 A local missionary just sent me a friend request. Is it common for missionaries to send invites to known ex-members? Not sure what the missionary expects. All he'll see are references to Orthodoxy, punk and indie rock, good beer and bourbon. I haven't accepted the request. Seems strange, although no doubt well meaning.

I'd just guess that these are your local missionaries who are attempting to contact you and other inactives in the ward boundaries wherever your records are.

Might make for an interesting conversation should he come to the door. It's been a couple of years since missionaries came by. I'm always game for a friendly chat but not looking to change minds or waste time - theirs or mine. Guess I'll see what happens. I won't be accepting the request. Don't want any more LDS memes and BoM references popping up in my feed.

And they post Mormon Messages, etc. How else can they proselytize without going door to door? Don't know for sure, I may be wrong.

Now they don't, but expect to get it back again sometime. Those that have left the church - do you still have member facebook friends in the area? It's possible you show up to the missionaries as friends of friends, they look, see you are still on the list and so friend you.

There are a lot in the field finding out things and trying to get answers..the essays are not helping THEM! Know that I direct them to parents/bishops and have them begin their inquiry there..with mission presidents etc. It hurts to see them hurting.
