Come in a little lower, what the h..., it's still not all that bad. Besides, lore says, any punishment is probably temporary anyway.2) Strong Atheism: I don't know how they do it, but I do respect it.3) Evangelical theory: Simply say something similar to.... "I like Jesus", and it's all good. Yeah, there is fire and brimstone....for those that don't say the words.4) Reincarnation theory: This one could be good, unless your sect believes one could get stuck as a, say, goat......for quite a while.5) New Age (typ) theory: Who wants to get melded back into the sea of consciousness, and lose their identity. But, I guess at least you're still here....somewhere.6) Works based Abrahamic deity (typ) theory: I would think that a guy would always be worried about that big scorecard in the sky.7) Agnosticism, weak Atheism: This can't be comfortable. Dive in and figure out how to be good with materialism....or don't.

'Grand design', and 'atheism' are not really compatible.I placed atheism high in my rating because, Atheists/materialists do not believe in a soul, so, somehow they have figured out how to be comfortable with this. They are not worried about their eternal placement. They claim to be at peace with their temporary existence.As opposed to the, say.... the Catholic, who cheats on his wife. I suspect the comfort level is actually higher for the believer in hell, because despite the threatened suffering level it allows them to avoid the paradox of trying to use the mind to contemplate a time when the mind is not.

Very well said L.G.! The 'Works based' theologist is more at ease because they are settled on what they are dealing with. Whereas the drifter is sub-consciously going insane because they cannot securely grasp what they sub-consciously know is unknowable.

Unless the "drifter" realizes that it is, in fact, unknowable, and stops attempting to make the secure grasp, and unexpectedly short circuits the onset of insanity.

Can he really be comfortable and at peace?But that doesn't mean Atheist don't have a conscience or moral compass. They do have feelings, alot of them. They aren't robots. In fact they probably have too much and can't accept the horror of societies ills, or tragic happenings. They lost hope of God intervening I guess.
