We kind of wish they would mock us, and sometimes a small minority do, but generally we pretend they do. In fact, the vast majority, don't really care what we believe so long as we don't get in their face about it, but of course more and more we prefer to get in their face. And eventually, after being in their face enough they react, which is of course what we wanted them to do so we could go into martyr mode. If in fact we started paying more attention to what Christ taught while amongst us in the flesh, they might actually perk up and listen, instead of simply ignoring us. 1

I didn't think I'd like her churches teaching style, but this was such an eye opener, and this and the other messages are talking about what Christ taught. I think I've missed out on a whole other view of Him or didn't understand the LDS view as well, both probably believe the same, but this guy made it known so powerfully! Hello Stone Holm...I know that not all non believers mock us... but I think a great many mock anyone, LDS included, who believes in God as being inferior intellectually, or unsophisticated at the least, if we actually believe in God... And I've never been in martyr mode and don't see myself as ever behaving as a martyr... no one that I know has a martyr behavior, but that doesn't mean there aren't some but I think it's very few.We teach plenty about being Christ-like... in our very principles of loving our fellow man, serving others, living the commandments, etc etc. GG

Obviously you don't pay too close of attention to numerous conference talks about Christ, various Ensign articles, particularly the latest series of RS monthly messages for the past seven months or so on the Divine Mission of Jesus Christ... Sept's message is about Christ's atonement and role as a Comforter to us... August's was his mission as the Messiah... July's message was his mission as our Advocate with the Father... June's was his mission as a Minister who set the example for us, to help us better minister to one another... how to recognize opportunities to serve others in Christ-like service... March's was on Christ's mission as the Light of the World. But I bet you didn't read any of those... nor the special issue of an Ensign-type publication that was devoted solely to our view and belief in Jesus Christ...And I bet you don't have a copy of the document (similar to the Proclamation on the Family) issued by the First Presidency and the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles dated January l, 2000 and titled "The Living Christ... The Testimony of the Apostles" The last paragraph bears testimony that... "Jesus is the Living Christ, the immortal Son of God. He is the great King Immanual, who stands today on the right hand of His Father. He is the light, the life, and the hope of the world. His way is the path that leads to happiness in this life and eternal life in the world to come. God be thanked for the matchless gift of his Divine Son." How possibly can you not understand the "LDS view?" Certainly not because we haven't preached what the Savior taught, his role as it affects mankind, nor our relationship to Him. You seem to have missed that somewhere... I wonder why... GG 2
Stone holm Posted September 25, 2014 Posted September 25, 2014 Well the problem is there are a lot of intellectually inferior Christians, but unless a Christian group gets in the face of most of the world, most of the world tends not to mock them, but just to ignore them. Again, we really prefer to be mocked -- its a lot easier to turn mocking on the mocker, than it is to deal with people that prefer to just ignore you. If you want to get mocked, then you have to get in people's faces. The reason that Mormons and Jehovah Witnesses tend to get mocked is that we bang on people's doors a lot. The non-proselyting Churches tend to be ignored. Those that proselyte, or go political like certain Evangelicals, well they tend to get mocked because they aren't just holding the iron rod with their heads held high -- they tend to be getting in people's faces. Most atheists are not devout atheists, they just don't find our arguments persuasive and they don't want to be pestered further on the subject. 1
