Discovered that a lot of people did not realize that it is State legislation that results in many of the scare stories promulgated by the right , not Constitutional decisions by Federal judges. Legislation like that described in the article which permits discrimination by private businesses on religious grounds tends to merely give religion a bad name, but I have no big problem with that because boycotts and shunning will keep such businesses at a minimum. But such businesses should be denied any form of government subsidy.

I would not assume that those who manage Al-Jazeera are good, or extreme Muslims, though they may be, but to people in Muslim countries being gay is absolutely frowned upon. As to lesbian activity, it is rather easily concealed. In many areas over there gays are hanged. I doubt that the Constitution or the Bill of Rights matters one bit to them. So, the time does seem to be growing closer where if the Mormons are going to save the Constitution, they be getting on that.

In my opinion a law which discriminates in the way the proposed law in Kanas does - is a tool of Satan and is devoid of anything praiseworthy. Bigotry - which this Kanas law is - wrapped in the guise of "religious freedom" only furthers the plans of Satan to destroy righteousness. The cause and affect is that the bigotry proposed, makes all of religion look pety and bigoted. In the Bible we learn to feed the hungry, clothe the naked, and take in those in who need shelter. We learn the same or similar in the Book Mormon. What is very important in relation to the bigotry proposed by Kanas, is that when Christ taught about helping the hungry, naked, without shelter, He did not say "Unless the lifestyle of the person before you is what you claim is sin." The greatest irony of the proposed Kanas legislation is that those typically opposed to equality in life, liberty and pursuit of happiness love bandy about "No special rights" concerning laws which protect everyone including homosexuals. Yet this law in Kanas seeking "special rights" specially for those opposed to equality, and they have built the tent to include only themselves and to the exclusion of all others. The outcome of this bigotry will be the same outcome as found in Romer v. Evans and Lawerance v. Texas. I think it is safe to state that the Church is or would be opposed to such legislation. The the Church officially supported equality in Salt Lake, provides firm ground that the Church would be opposed to allow wolf of bigotry to dressed in the sheeps clothing of religion.

While I do wish the citizens of some Muslim countries had the religious freedoms that we do in the US. There isn't much I can do about it as long as our oil comes out of their sand.
