Calm Posted October 26, 2013 Posted October 26, 2013 That law has been fulfilled in Christ, we are now in the new covenant that does not require circumcision. And yet it was called an eternal, everlasting covenant or some variation of that theme. 1
EllenMaksoud Posted October 26, 2013 Posted October 26, 2013 Brigham Young voiced that opinion at times, but I think that it was because he wanted every other male to be as miserable as he was. GlennPlease, I don't mean anything bad by this. I had thought that Mormonism was more of a cohesive group than I am seeing, when in fact there is variation around the central doctrine. That realization made me feel threatened and unsafe at first, but it feels OK now. Perhaps the reason for the twice yearly General Conferences is to minimize that variation. In contrast to my past, where any errant thought was condemned this is quite nice.
Stargazer Posted October 27, 2013 Posted October 27, 2013 D&C 132 says to whom all it has been revealed too, only a small % lived it even when it was practiced. I have known one woman in the Biblical sense and have been with here 38 years, and it will stay that way in heaven. If I am told I must practice in heaven...the deal is off, I am shy and a one woman man. Revelation says there will come a day before Christ comes where there will be seven women for one man...not this one. Btw, I think I was off ten years, instead of 124 since polygamy ended I think is almost 134. Pa Pa, don't worry. In that world to come you will have much greater wisdom and will not be shy any longer. Besides, if asked to live that principle you would have to enter into it before your resurrection, and I don't think things will work in quite the same way when we have resurrected bodies.
Stargazer Posted October 27, 2013 Posted October 27, 2013 You're welcome and welcome to the best board ever! Im not being sarcastic either. This place has the best misfits in the world. There you go, talking about me again! When will you learn?
telnetd Posted November 3, 2013 Posted November 3, 2013 Is polygamy necessary for exaltation? Is this true?? Where does it say this?? Do you really want to become a goddess? If yes, why? Gail
Calm Posted November 3, 2013 Posted November 3, 2013 telnetd, Do you trust God when He says the faithful will inherit his Throne? https://www.lds.org/scriptures/nt/rev/3.21?lang=eng#2020 Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me. 21 To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne. 1
Stargazer Posted November 4, 2013 Posted November 4, 2013 telnetd, Do you trust God when He says the faithful will inherit his Throne? https://www.lds.org/scriptures/nt/rev/3.21?lang=eng#20 Not to mention being a joint-heir with Christ (Romans 8:16,17). 16 The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God: 17 And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together. The heir of a King is a King. What does that make us, then?
Jazzdreamer Posted November 4, 2013 Author Posted November 4, 2013 Do you really want to become a goddess? If yes, why?GailWell, I want to become whatever Heavenly Father wants of me. If that be a goddess, so be it, if he wants me to be a tree, I'll be that...but I know what we should all strive for. 3
cdowis Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 Lol oh I've found that I learn more HERE than I do in church. Yep, I am able post here with confidence things that I know nothing about. Archeology, biology, genetics, psychology, neurology -- just ask me a question.
