The Department of Justice has been accused of religious intolerance and viewpoint discrimination after workers were sent an email directing them to verbally affirm homosexuality, according to a law firm specializing in religious liberty and now representing a DOJ whistleblower.

Liberty Counsel said DOJ employees were emailed a brochure called “LGBT Inclusion at Work: The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Managers.” The brochure was created as a resource from DOJ Pride, an association of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender employees of the DOJ.

A Department of Justice spokesperson did not return calls seeking comment. Fox News also reached out to DOJ Pride for comment – but emails were not answered.

Among the directives in the brochure is an order for workers to vocally affirm homosexuality.

“Don’t judge or remain silent,” the brochure read. “Silence will be interpreted as disapproval.”

Wow. Talk about a hostile work environment! Implicit in the statement "Silence will be interpreted as disapproval" is a threat to those who do disapprove of homosexuality or homosexual behavior. So not only is the DOJ silencing those who disapprove of such things, it is coercing its employees to go against their conscience / religious beliefs / personal moral code and affirmatively speak out in favor of such things.

They were also told to post “DOJ Pride” stickers in their office to indicate “that it is a safe place.”

Wow again. So much for individual liberties. This is disturbing stuff.

Mat Staver, founder of Liberty Counsel, said every American should be outraged by the DOJ orders.

“Christians are frightened and terrified of losing their jobs,” Staver told Fox News. “You just can’t keep you head down and do your job. Now you have to become an advocate for the LGBT agenda – and if you don’t – the DOJ will consider that to be intolerant.”

Staver said the idea that Christians who might oppose homosexuality have to put up a pro-gay symbol in their office smacks of thought police.

“Under this directive, one cannot be a Christian and a manager at the Department of Justice,” he said. “How does one who believes in the teachings of Jesus Christ and the Bible display ‘gay pride’ stickers?”

Wade Englund has a thread going that discusses "LUNC" - the "Law of Unintended Negative Consequences." I have not read that thread, but I wonder if this story fits within that concept.

To be frank, I find the bulk of the brochure to be unobjectionable, even commendable. But there are aspects of it that are disturbing.

HUD out of Denver has been demanding that people offering housing units to the general public not discriminate on the basis of sexual orientation going back to the '90s.

I wonder where they got that idea, since there certainly was never any congressional action that justified such a policy.

They do not, and could not under the Constitution, punish people for voicing opinions.

It is that they have political bias and do not report stories that will hurt their agenda or hurt the political party they are affiliated with. I trust the media some what. Oh so now they have credibility. So they get one thing right so everything they say must be correct. The guys at Liberty are not a hate group. The fact that they are "right wing" or right leaning is the reason you jump on board. You should check them out. Go to their website. Liberty is an honorable institution.

Yes I know them they are the same ones who labeled The Jewish Defense League, various Tea Party Affiliates, several christian ministries and World Net Daily and just about anybody else who supports the constitution all as hate groups.

I can't blame him for doubting it. Half the time I hear the media, regardless of the sort, report a story and I have to say to myself "That's interesting, I wonder if it's true."

We live in a society that doesn't care about the truth. There shouldnt be a surprise when people question whether something is accurate. After all, who can we trust in corrupt society?
