In Changing Lanes you have two flawed people, one going to AA, his marriage on the rocks, the other working for a corrupt law firm, having an affair. The crash on the bridge, the constant battle between them for some documents, see changes in both persons at the end. Both realize what they have done and want to make changes. Schaushenk's Redemption, even with all it's bad language is a moving story of someone overcoming a bad situation.

Meh, it's not too bad, but not one of my favorite movies. I'm more into what a lot of people call chick flicks, mostly, but I also like a lot of the CGI movies My family is going to go see the new Star Trek movie this weekend. Saw Iron Man 3 not too long ago. Looking forward to seeing Man of Steel soon.

There is a forthcoming TV series about a happily married couple -- until she finds out that he is into porn and has a private collection on his computer. Schaushenk's Redemption, even with all it's bad language is a moving story of someone overcoming a bad situation.The Shawshank Redemption isn't bad, though I haven't seen Changing Lanes. Somehow I doubt it could hold a candle to a story like, say, Graham Green's The End of the Affair. It deals with an affair, war, faith, and the eventual beginning of redemption for the protagonist. This is a depth that you won't find in most films like you described. I'm also very fond of a Soviet comedy-drama Love and Pigeons, which tells the story of a Siberian family where the father has a brief affair at a resort, showing how it affected his family, but eventually ending with their love rekindled. This is a warmth that you won't find in most films like the ones you've described.Then there is the masterpiece that is the White Guards- family, friendship, love, and loyalty during the apocalyptic destruction of the old way of life during the Russian Civil War.There is a reason that I don't watch TV or too many new movies, and it has little to do with "sweet and nice," though such is sorely needed.
