Opan Open Letter To Baroness Warsi On The Mormon Advertising Campaign

Atheist Richard Heller is trying to get the UK government involved with his anti-Mormon rhetoric complaining that the Mormon advertising campaign... "benefits from the charitable status accorded to that Church and contributions towards it are eligible for gift aid. In effect, they are being subsidised by non-Mormon taxpayers."

Then he sumerizes several points from his anti-Mormon pamphlet for good measure which "sets out reasons why I believe that faith to be harmful to all its members and to society in general." -

e.g. "It compels its members, including children, to study the Book of Mormon and other “scriptures” which are a fraudulent farrago, purveying as history events which are totally fictitious and often preposterous, and with numerous passages based on racism or sexism. It has suppressed criticisms of its narratives, and encourages members to obey the authority of its 'prophets' and ignore normal standards of reasoning and evidence."

If i was compelled to study the scriptures as a child, why did I not actually read through them till I was 18 and wanted to?

After scanning that essay and looking at the other links on that page, barely managing to hold down my dinner, I offer this indictment of English politics.

Some people are just extremely intolerant of other's beliefs. Besides, to be an atheist takes just as much "faith" as it does to believe in God. How can anyone know with 100% assurance that there is no God thoughout the entire universe and possibly beyond?

It's that argument of silence that atheists rely on that makes atheism so illogical and irrational. Agnosticism is rational at least. If you don't know whether there is a God or not, that makes sense. But Atheism is believing there is no God based on nothing but ones own preference. There is no logic behind it.

My goodness, UK politics is as wild as anything I have ever heard of! So the Baroness Warsi wed a man after he abandoned his wife with 4 children? They are Muslims, albeit backslidden ones, and according to Islamic law, he could have stayed married to his first wife. I don't think that he can utterly abandon the poor woman. Perhaps he thinks the woman will be cared for by public aid?

I too doubt that she will address the so called Mormon problem. There are lots of vocal and ridiculous atheists running around, and it seems the more vocal they get, the louder people laugh. I don't think they will take him any more seriously than that Cameron fellow. In reading his book, on chapter 5, it is revealed that he has a problem with authority because of how his father treated him

When you really think about it, Heller actually does have something to worry about when it comes to the religion of the Latter-day Saints. Because if the religion and its prophecies are true, he is likely going to be swept off with the wicked at the Second Coming, to spend at least a thousand years in hell learning how to repent and disavow his much-beloved athiesm.
