MDalby Posted April 22, 2013 Posted April 22, 2013 I was in the temple the other day pondering things and there are some statements that may indicate that the Garden of Eden scene may have some differences for this earth than other earths. Each earth would have their own Garden of Eden events. We know that this earth had the Savior born on this earth and that Jesus is the author of salvation for the infinite atonement for all of God's creations. And that all earths do not have a Savior born among mankind. We know that this plan of salvation if the same plan of salvation throughout all eternity and had no beginning and has no end.Does anyone have any quotes from the prophets regarding the plan of eternity being the same for all eternity?
ksfisher Posted April 22, 2013 Posted April 22, 2013 40 And now, Moses, my son, I will speak unto thee concerning this earth upon which thou standest; and thou shalt write the things which I shall speak. (Pearl of Great Price, Moses, Moses 1)I think our Father in Heaven speaks to us only about the earth where we are living now. We do know that the atonement is an infinate atonement (2 Nephi 9:7), which I have always understood to be infinite in time, but I guess you could take it to mean infinite in space as well.
T-Shirt Posted April 22, 2013 Posted April 22, 2013 (edited) I seem to recall Brigham Young saying that each world has it's own Savior. I don't remember where I read it and it is entirely possible that I am not remembering the quote correctly. If I find the quote, I will post it. Edited April 23, 2013 by T-Shirt
Stone holm Posted April 23, 2013 Posted April 23, 2013 It had always been my understanding that Christ's Atonement was for all of Our Heavenly Father's Creations, which meant other planets as well, but not the Creations of other gods. There has been some speculation that Heavenly Father was the Savior of His generation, but I find that as pressing too much meaning into verses, although it is certainly possible. However, relatively recently the question was asked and left unanswered in a GD class whether Heavenly Father is still creating spirits and hence additional creations and if so are their additional Christs for those creations which has caused me to rethink my prior conclusions and decide we really don't know enough to begin to answer the question.
janderich Posted April 23, 2013 Posted April 23, 2013 If God the Father has created numberless worlds isn't extreemly arrogant and self centered to believe that the only Savior of all of these creations was born on this world? Isn't it presumptous to assume that this world is the most wicked and the most righteous of all God's creations? It seems to me almost as backwards as people who used to think the sun and stars revolved around the earth.I find Brigham Young's statements much more reasonable. For instance he said:Every world has had an Adam and an Eve, named so simply because the first man is always called Adam and the first woman, Eve. And the oldest son has always had the privilege of being ordained, appointed and called to be the heir of the family if he does not rebel against the Father, and he is the Savior of the family. Every world that has been created has been created upon the same principle. They may vary in their varieties, yet the eternity is one: it is one eternal round. Or this, also from Brigham Young:All worlds have their God, their Savior, their sin, their priesthood, and can choose which they like, but beginning man rejected the priesthood by assuming to be a law unto himself—all other things abide this law. Questing Beast Posted April 23, 2013 Posted April 23, 2013 (edited) Yes, of course it is incalculably unlikely that this planet is either: more wicked than other planets (the only one containing a people wicked enough to crucify their God), and the only one where "the Savior" was born as a mortal. I take such assertions to be figurative and instructive statements only. "This world", to my mind, includes all the universe, the entire universe is "the world", but our planet is merely one of countless planets that are inhabited, as B Young believed and taught. The entire "Jesus Story" is just that: there is no evidence outside the writings of the religion itself that he ever lived. It doesn't matter. The story tells us how much "God" loves us, loves creation or the world. If I see evidence later that Jesus Christ was literally alive in our world's history as purported in scripture, and that the story in scripture is literally true in its details, I won't be the last to accept it. But it isn't necessary for my faith for it to be literally true as historical, empirical fact, on this planet. Somewhere, sometime, "God" made certain that all those who believe can find "God" through their belief/desire. And that "plan" is eternal and all-encompassing, that is to say, it works within the entire "world".... Edited April 23, 2013 by Questing Beast

But I too would be interested in seeing something along these lines enshrined in the doctrine of the Church (official publication). Edited April 23, 2013 by BCSpace
Maidservant Posted April 24, 2013 Posted April 24, 2013 (edited) Since the plan of salvation IS to bind human beings into marriages and families (and the rest of our ways are just appendages), then I would say that the plan of salvation is the same everywhere, all over, all the time. However, I think I know what you are referring to, and it is something I ponder also, but I think *not sure* that the way it is said leaves it open to the idea that ALL the parts are being played as they have always been played.
