What happens when the alleged "questioning" of other Church members faithfulness and/or patriotism was never intended, suggested or even implied by the poster, but some readers of a given post nevertheless surmise the poster somehow meant to do so? There's a potential danger here, because a board participant may hesitate to clearly and forthrightly express his strongly held ideas, beliefs and opinions because he fears being accused of questioning other board participant's faithfulness or patriotism, when he, in fact, never meant to do so. Rather, he was just being honest and true to himself. And might not this well-founded fear potentially cause there to be a stifling effect on the free expression of ideas that should be encouraged in a format like this one?

It is near impossible to determine the intent of others on a message board, and this board is no exception. All we can go on is the words used, and hopefully any smiley's used along with them.

This isn't a free expression board. We agreed to abide by the rules. One of which is that the Mods have the last say.

In the remote chance any here are willing, it would be very helpful if some might read my contributions to this thread and point out, with specificity, where I either explicitly or implicitly questioned someone else's faithfulness and/or patriotism. I make this request in all sincerity and humility, as I'm willing to withstand correction if I did offend, even if the offence/offences are unintentional.

But if it turns out some are actually offended by my opinions only, finding them offencive in and of themselves, simply because they disagree with me, let me know that as well. There's a big difference between being offended because someone intended to offend, or being offended merely because someone strongly disagrees with another's sincerely and honestly held points of view. Is it not true that In today's politically correct world people are constantly offended just by hearing someone else who, with good-will and sincerity, expresses opinions that are at odds with their own?

I wouldn't worry about it. Sometimes a Mod may simply misread a post or draw a wrong or hasty conclusion and not press the issue. Maybe just re-post your key points in bullet-fashion and allow the discussion to reboot from there.
