I think the Lord would approve of Steve's actions in this case and disapprove of

the slouch.

But on the topic of the church's teaching - "Our prophets have told us that we

should not shop, hunt, fish, attend sports events, or participate in similar activities

on that day".

Is this a sign of the legalism that might have been created by the Sadducees or

Pharisees if they had the entertainment we have today? What do you think?

I do think it can seem legalistic where we are discussing Steve Y. working on Sunday. What about the women or men who work hard to prepare meals on Sunday, or work hard in a calling on Sunday. The list goes on. It gets to be very hard to define. I just think some who attend church then come home and slouch around doing nothing (myself) might be looked on more harshly than someone who took time out for someone. Of course it is a day of rest too and is needed! Also, what if the actual Sabbath is supposed to be Saturday not Sunday, a whole other topic!

yeah, that a some other things seem to me to be odd, the sabbath is a day of rest but a lot fo times you're worn out doing church stuff. Also 1 Samuel 16:7 where the Lord looks on the heart yet we obsess about the outward appearance

Rest from the world for our spiritual aspects to rejuvenate etc., not necessarily a physical rest though if the spirit is rested, often the body is rested as well even while working. Think of it as like going to the temple, you are not sitting around doing nothing (well, not if you are paying proper attention), there can be some significantly hard work going on and yet when one comes out of the temple, one may feel reborn and energized.
