Glenn101 Posted August 30, 2012 Posted August 30, 2012 Just thought it was interesting that this person that I know said this, among all her LDS friends. I definitely think that there is a division out there. You are very correct. There is a division among the LDS on this subject. And other subjects. There are LDS who object to the church's stance on Proposition 8. There were LDS who objected to the church's stance on the Equal RIghts Amendment.Who would have thunk that Three's Company would devolve into this? (I have a friend who predicted something of the sort.)Glenn
Calm Posted August 30, 2012 Posted August 30, 2012 Wasn't Will And Grace on KSL? My memory said I ran into a couple of nonLDS critics who chastised KSL for not living up to its standards and being more concerned about money when they aired that sitcom (assuming I am not getting it confused with another Utah TV station).
Daniel2 Posted August 30, 2012 Posted August 30, 2012 Yeah... this show is DEFINITELY likely to offend more than Will and Grace ever was.The gay couple in this show actually seem far less edgy/crude/crass than some of the heterosexual characters... (the scene of the cheating ex of the main character, as the sharp-tongued 'homophobic' grandmother, in particular--though by the end of the episode, one can appreciate why she's fairly bitter...).The scene where the gay couple sits on the bench as other non-traditional families describe their non-traditional circumstances was also something that struck me as likely to challenge the majority of Utahn's approach to/consideration of 'family.'Again... I'm not surprised that KSL decided not to pick it up. I never have time to watch TV on TV, anyway--I'll usually watch an entire season all on Netflix or DVD.Daniel2
selek1 Posted August 31, 2012 Posted August 31, 2012 (Below is a comment from a very active mormon on my FB page) Boooo on KSL. Thanks for adding to our state's image of being a bunch of unaccepting homophobes...how embarrasing. Please relay the following to your friend:3 Nephi 13: 23 Nephi 13: 5Your friend has called good "evil", and evil "good", in order to appear "enlightened" in front of the Great and Spacious Building. On a macro level, it's good to see the words of the Prophets fulfilled in these latter days.On a personal level, it's just one more concession to the idols of Babylon.
Libs Posted August 31, 2012 Posted August 31, 2012 Just thought it was interesting that this person that I know said this, among all her LDS friends. I definitely think that there is a division out there. There is because I have seen it among my LDS friends. Unfortunately, the issue is much bigger than just a programming decision.
Stargazer Posted September 1, 2012 Posted September 1, 2012 The Nehor:I'd ask him why he personally wasn't in Iraq being patriotic.I'd go, but the US Army has more sense than to send a 60 year old fat guy to Iraq, even if he is dead-on rifleman.
thesometimesaint Posted September 2, 2012 Posted September 2, 2012 They wouldn't want me now either. But they sure did during the Vietnam war. My dad was in the Air Force and so was I. Though we didn't ever serve at the same Base.BTW The US Army sent fathers and sons to Iraq. They volunteered.http://www.army.mil/article/30326/Why didn't this guy go if he was so "hot to trot" for others to go.
