Putting The Scriptures In Perspective

I recently downloaded the audio version of the standard works from the Church website. I combined them into several large files for easier transportation.

I work 10 hours/day or longer at a desk job. So I was able to go through the triple combination in 4 days. The result was quite interesting.

Since I was only half listening, a lot of the filler words and "it came to pass" phrases went below the radar. A lot of the "plot" items blurred. What became more clear and evident was really interesting.

1) Some topics were repeated so often that they rose to the top of my attention level.

2) Some stuff that I'd normally never cross-reference all of a sudden sounded like they belonged together.

I don't want to prejudice the sample. So I'm not going to state what I thought came up so often. What I am going to do is ask others to do go through the same process and ask:

What topics and themes do you hear oft repeated?

What points seem to come together in a manner that you never thought about before?

The day I read it straight through with the youth in a marathon, I was amazed at how much I learned differently than in all my other studies. It's been a while so I don't recall specifics. But I heartily recommend the effort (preferably using the doubleday edition where it is written in normal paragraphs.
